Leading cause of death accessed with one medical test

"Should I be eating fatty foods or not?

“The mantra that saturated fat must be removed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease has dominated dietary advice and guidelines for almost four decades. Yet scientific evidence shows that this advice has, paradoxically, increased our cardiovascular risks. Furthermore, the government’s obsession with levels of total cholesterol, which has led to the over-medication of millions of people with statins, has diverted our attention from the more egregious risk factor of atherogenic dyslipidaemia.” – Aseem Malhotra, interventional cardiology specialist registrar, Croydon University Hospital, London

It was once believed that eating saturated fats was going to put your risk of developing cardiovascular disease through the roof, but a recent British Medical Journal frankly states above, “saturated fat is not the issue.”

We have long-known these health-promoting foods help stave off certain diseases, but until recently, research literature focused on a very immature and short-sighted approach to clinically evaluating the role cholesterol plays in cardiovascular disease development.

I tell patients, “high cholesterol does not cause cardiovascular disease, we need cholesterol to live, to thrive. It’s what happens to cholesterol particles in the body that can cause them to affect us negatively.” A wide variety of fats are necessary for the body to manufacture cholesterol, a necessary component of neuro-hormonal synthesis and protection, immune and cardiovascular health.

The crucial point is that we need an ideal ratio of fats that are unoxidized to stay healthy and prevent disease."

I would think that a compromised liver would create too much cholesterol in the body...

Fantasic jtprindl. The scariest thing is all the raw vegan children brought up on zero cholesterol diets low in fat. I wonder how they will fare as adults. The younger years is said to be very important for brain development and children's diets are recommended to be higher in fat and cholesterol according to various things l have read.

The old story told was that man once lived on low fat plant foods and was a frugivore because of various ideas put forward with suggestive and sketchy science. None-the-less more recent peer reviewed science (2008) now suggests an enlargement in various cognitive parts of the brain when mankind had regular access to higher fat foods.

This is a fascinating subject. The vast research on cholesterol and fat is a real eye opener.

Are we really like the apes and animals? Does cooked food halve our lifespans like with the animals?...doesn't appear so. Why are animals said to die quickly when they eat junk food, yet humans can live a long time on junk food and bad cooked diet? I think humans are different to any animal...we seem to adapt better than animals to many things. Some people can do low fat and others high fat and others can live off processed garbage food. What is this human body really?...some say we are frugivores, omnivores, breatharians...but maybe we can be whatever we are lead to depending on the `so called' level we are currently at.

These are important things we should think about imo. Maybe it's time to stop looking to books for answers and use our common sense. Lets face it, we don't know much about anything...no solid arguments can be made about anything. Maybe some humans incarated to fruit areas (people with less karma) and others incarated to areas to eat animals (more karma).

Regarding the children on low fat vegan diets and people in general - l do feel our incarnation and vibration (they both tie in with many things that are all linked imo) plays an important role in how we fare. This is my intuition and not even something very well thought out. None-the-less, we don't want to be foolish in our actions either. We have limits and we must nourish ourselves according to our needs.

Pretty interesting stuff to consider. If you reckon you have solid answers you are probably going to go off track and make mistakes. Lets not be too hasty in our talk...various ideas need to be put forward but we need to leave the know-it-all nonsense out so we don't make fools of oursleves and engage in abundant nonsense and monkey chatter about rot.
