Coconut water w/ E3 Live & Hydrilla
16 oz. beet/carrot juice

Outside of berries, I'm starting to really get sick of sugary foods. I didn't even finish the last ounce or two of that juice because it tastes too strong.

curious if you exercise or do sport

and if you are truly hungry when eating

like if you don't eat until evening would you still be averse to sweet

I play basketball, do strength training, and am walking at work all the time. I only eat when I'm hungry and was craving a salad immediately after the juice. My salads are high-fat (hempseed-based dressing) and the one I'm eating now contains local mixed greens, cucumber, and kimchi.

ok, I may have misunderstood the implication of what you had said, thinking that you were saying you weren't going to eat anything sweet anymore.

i read this again, and of course you got sick of it, it's not whole "food",
it's really sweet juice
without fiber, beets and carrots, yuck, unless you're really primed for it.

and do you like the mature cocos? they are nice -not too sweet, more coconutty.

not judging or telling you to do something, just sayin.

"i read this again, and of course you got sick of it, it's not whole "food","

It happens with any food that has a lot of sugar in it. The thought of eating dates is disgusting to me.

some things to consider....

you seem to have a personal problem with dates. you presume that they are low nutrient...you're judgmental about them..it distorts your view.

and eating a date is no different from you drinking carrot beet juice.
apparently that's not disgusting to you, until your body said enough.

so the difference between your juice drinks or coconut has nothing to do wth "sugar"

1/2 the time i blend in celery in sweet base drinks if i wish to drink them.

go 2 days without eating. eat a date. get back to us.

still disgusting?

go 4 days

same thing with bananas. people say, I don't like bananas. when you're constantly eating, the appetite never resets, is never stoked, never real hunger.

i am not denying there can be personal preferences, but there can be other causes.

in addition we have already discussed the fact that you have never had a truly fresh moist date. you said the brand, and they are inferior and dried to an extent. there is a difference.

i know you will rebut all this, but it's out there anyway as a counterpoint to consider.

My friends from Qatar invited me over for lunch yesterday and they had just got some fresh dates from Saudi Arabia and gave me 3 pounds to take home and they were SO GOOD!!! They've given me other packaged dates from Saudi before and they too really GOOD, but this time they had two types that were in boxes instead of individual packages and one was extremely moist and the other were extremely dry as if they were intentionally sold that way and they too were extremely GOOD!!!

Every time people say that they can't imagine eating more than a few bananas at at time I can't help but think that they don't do anything to really build their appetite. When I come back from a 3 hour bike ride, I can't imagine not eating at least 12 to 15 bananas to refill my fuel tank, although, this time of year give me the persimmons!

JR:

"Every time people say that they can't imagine eating more than a few bananas at at time I can't help but think that they don't do anything to really build their appetite."

Even on my worst days with physical activity, I'm walking non-stop anywhere between 5-8 hours per day. This is most definitely not the case. I do have an appetite and I eat when I'm hungry.

Fresh:

"you're judgmental about them..it distorts your view."

Is it me or is it you whose judgmental? I used to love eating dates. As time went on, I started being able to eat less and less of them to the point where now they don't interest me at all. Am I saying I will never eat dates again? Of course not, but they don't appeal to me. In my opinion, there are much superior options out there. I understand that dates and bananas are the staple for many fruit-based raw foodists because they are the most easily accessible caloric dense fruits, but I don't eat simply to meet caloric needs. I only want to put the best of the best into my body. Also, I could demonstrate very clearly right now, with scientific evidence, how RDA's are in fact way too low. But I will save that for another time. Personally, I think many raw foodists are addicted to sugar, which is why some may feel worse when they experiment with less fruit. Sugar acts like a drug on the brain and they could simply be going through withdrawal. Hey, I don't hate sugar, I'm enjoying some strawberries and grapefruit as I type this, I just think most people eat too much of it and are oblivious to its potential damages.

"still disgusting?"

I don't see your point here. I agree, eating dates is better than starving.

"when you're constantly eating"

I routinely engage in intermittent fasting. I was doing physical labor all day on an empty stomach and felt great despite not eating anything until 4:30 pm.

Thank you for your kind wish, Suez smiling smiley

My menu all this time:

- green grapes
- plums
- red apples
- 1 pear I received as a gift yesterday (it was good, I don't eat pears usually, I don't like them)
- 1 banana I received as a gift (I don't usually eat bananas as I don't buy any) (I received 2 more yesterday, they need more ripening)
- nectarines
- peaches
- black grapes (very sweet and good, again received as a gift, I don't usually eat black grapes as I only like green grapes)
- tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, butter lettuce
- carrot juice
- cauliflower tomato mash
- my zoodles with tomato, zucchini, carrot pulp, bell pepper, fresh dill sauce
- variations of the sauce for the zoodles: with cauliflower instead of carrot pulp, with shredded carrots instead of carrot pulp
- I recently experimented with fresh thyme in my sauce for the zoodles, it's good, but at times it feels too strong for me (I'll stick to my beloved fresh dill as my one and only herb)
- I recently saw fresh kale at farmers' market, the curly kind, green - grayish, affordable, but I wasn't brave enough to buy and taste-test (I never ate kale)

"can you tell me what you put in your hempseed salad dressing?"

~1/2 cup. hemp seeds
1/2 cup. lemon or lime juice
1/2 cup. apple cider vinegar
3-4 garlic cloves
1/4 tsp. cayenne
1/2 tsp. turmeric extract (98% curcuminoids)
~1/8 tsp. himalayan salt

"also, do you make your own kim chi?"

No I use this - [www.rejuvenative.com]

"and if you notice any difference when you use it?"

I take it with E3 Live which has noticeable effects so I'm not sure if I would notice anything if I had it alone. It's very rich in calcium and iron.

Hey. Thanks for the recipe! I noticed my store sells turmeric so I might try that raw...but if I do, I'm wondering if I'll get the same concentration of curcuminoids. It will be fun to try a new salad dressing recipe. This looks like it will be a good dressing.

Hydrilla has lots of calcium and iron? Oh Cool. I did not know that. That is really good to know.

I also see that hydrilla has selenium SOD and zinc. Neat. I'm wondering..do you know how I can grow it? Or, how do i get it in its whole form? Do asian markets have them? Powder is alright ( probably a lot more convenient for me too) but lately, I'm kind of interested in getting stuff in whole foods.

Anyone grow hydrilla here?

maybe i'll make a separate thread on hydrilla

You won't get the same concentration but it's still very good for you. Just as a warning, the dressing is quite strong given the amount of garlic and cayenne, so you may want to use less at first. Maybe two cloves of garlic and 1/8 tsp of cayenne, but it's up to you.

I don't know of any sources that sell whole hydrilla. There's only about 2% RDA selenium per teaspoon but 130% iron and 70% calcium.

My first ever chocolate sapote. To answer your question, la_veronique, I say it tastes chocolatey, but it is not a taste like a block of chocolate. So chocolatey yes, but exactly like chocolate, no. I am going to try it next with some banana icecream and dates, which I think would be just perfect.
