Sprouting lentils: thoughts on length
Posted by: suncloud ()

This is about how long my lentil sprouts are when I eat them:

I guess some people sprout them longer, maybe like this?

Any thoughts on sprout length for lentils?

So beautiful, a celebration of life, are they grown with soil or without soil?

They need to be grown another 2 - 3 days. Why? Reduce uric acid to minimal levels, reduce 85% of the dangerous lectins and various other reasons l am too bust to go into right now.

btw, lentil sprouts have amongst the highest bioavailable phytchemicals of numerous foods tested. You will get twice as high bioavailablity over green sprouts and various seeds.

A good length = wait until the second stage of growth starts when the second shoot comes out of them. Legs are not enough (yours only has legs), the head needs to come out on the final day before harvesting.

Always sprout in darkness.

Thank you Storm and Sproutarian Man. I will give the longer ones a try!

Hello RawPracticalist.

I've been growing mine without soil, but it looks like maybe the ones in the second photo have soil. Yes, I agree, they are beautiful.

The problem with those lentil microgreens is that they would not produce very much juice due to the fiberous nature of the green. Some greens are more suitable than others, but most don't appear to be the best.

Nice to see the lentil microgreens though. smiling smiley
