I Know. Too bad for those of us who don't live in the subtropics. When I had tortoises I used full spectrum lights for them which were designed specifically for reptiles. They were a lot less expensive but unfortunately the light of the spectrum you really wanted was the first to give out - usually in just weeks - although the bulbs themselves could last a long time rather uselessly.
