There are different types of saturated fats. Coconut oil is thought to be bad mostly because of its palmitic acid content (~8%) but saturated fat is also bad in a lesser degree depending on total intake. I think coconut is the only weird fruit that has that specific component. The coconut water is a different story than oil (fat do not disolve in water and it should be very low) and never heard anything bad about coconut water. It is very good for its electrolites (nerves and muscle). People that drink lots of water, or eats lots of watery fruits, need a lot more electrolites (Na, K, etc.) that people that do not. Coconut water has them.

yeah, extract the 0.0000001% and dump the fat. Needs 20 gallons of oil to get a drop of polyphenolics. This did not prove anything as they did not used coconut oil. They used a special extract of coconut oil. You could also extract vitamins from fried bacon, one milligram from 2 tons.

This is a comprative study. Chose 3 bad oils and see which one does not kill the rat. Also, it was given as a supplement (pill) not like drinking oil from a pitcher like a Tavis's tonic.

Same as before. The other oils used to compare coconut oil gave worst results. "Male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed different oils at 8% level for 45 days along with [synthetic diet" That's quite different from drinking pitchers of oil as your main calory source (Tavis).

The studies measured one specific point but forgot to mention the health of the rats at the end. It did not say the rats ended up healthier. It only measured one small unimportant thing. Give rats a diet of oil and see the disaster. Feed rats oil and if you look very hard, you could find a very small benefit and present it as a winning ticket. Yeah, it improved my tiny X but now I need surgery for Y.

Everything else did not bother to read as I got other things to do.

Antistess and antioxidant effects of virgin olive oil in vivo
[www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Effect of virgin coconut oil enriched diet on the antioxidant status and paraoxonase 1 activity in ameliorating the oxidative stress in rats - a comparative study.

"From these observations, it is concluded that VCO has a beneficial role in improving antioxidant status and hence preventing lipid and protein oxidation.

Wet extracted coconut oil for the win...

"Wet and dry extraction of coconut oil: impact on lipid metabolic and antioxidant status in cholesterol coadministered rats."

Beneficial effects of virgin coconut oil on lipid parameters and in vitro LDL oxidation.

RESULTS:

VCO obtained by wet process has a beneficial effect in lowering lipid components compared to CO. It reduced total cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids, LDL, and VLDL cholesterol levels and increased HDL cholesterol in serum and tissues. The PF of virgin coconut oil was also found to be capable of preventing in vitro LDL oxidation with reduced carbonyl formation.

CONCLUSION:

The results demonstrated the potential beneficiary effect of virgin coconut oil in lowering lipid levels in serum and tissues and LDL oxidation by physiological oxidants. This property of VCO may be attributed to the biologically active polyphenol components present in the oil.

Suez, you already posted articles and I already said why they did not apply. Your reaction to that was to post more and more articles without answering to my observations. As i said before, if you look carefully you could find one benefit as the expense of 20 bad things. That does not mean that the 20 bad things go away. They are there. Sientist could find good things about bacon if they look carefully, but is bacon healthy?

Antistress and antioxidant effects of virgin coconut oil in vivo.

" Consequently, the serum cholesterol, triglyceride, glucose and corticosterone levels were also lower in VCO-treated mice. These results suggest the potential value of VCO as an antistress functional oil."

And? ketogenic diets are good for treating people suffering from epilepsy. Does that mean that ketogenic diets are healthy? NOOOOOOOO

Coconut oil is good for maybe treating X. Does that mean that coconut oil is healthy?

Are pharmaceutical pills good as supplements since they treat something? If they cure something they must be good, right?

Is every body brave enough to drink coconut oil from a pitcher and call it a tonic?

Think about the effects they don't tell you about

Thank goodness everyone lived and the inmates are all now off of isolation and have recovered from the Norovirus. The only casualty I detected, and as I said to him, was the male wound nurse's beard he had been growing out. He said "Yes, no need to be harboring anything more". We are all happy and thankful now. It coul have been much worse.

What I think may be going on is that he made an error in thinking that people can't get too much selenium if it is from natural sources - the same ilk of error, IMO, that people make in thinking when they are over consuming natural fructose it's not the same thing as consuming processed fructose.

Tavis's recipes include a lot of Brazil nuts. Brazilnuts contain a lot of selenium. One symptom of consuming too much selenium is hair loss.

There was a recent thread that solved this problem,
that unlimited fruit consumption is good for our health.
Nuts are fruits

Tavis hair loss may be from another source

For instance on one of Tavis' videos he mentioned he was drinking a 4 X recipe of his Brazil nut milk for his breakfast, as he said he sometimes does, as I recall. According to chronometer that is 18,543% of the selenium needed for a day.

could be true

there is no equivalence between your fructose example and your selenium example.

Mr Kearns is off limits to most people because they do not qualify to be in his company, but one person has connected with him from the raw food world. No more shall be said.

He never makes public online appearances. He chooses to stay behind the scenes for various reasons. Many great people stay behind the scenes away from the public eye, it must be this way.>>>

Mr Kearns is off limits because Mr Kearns appears to really be "Supreme Master Ching Hai" which explains why TSM doesn't want us to know where his source of "enlightenment" comes from. If Mr Kearns is not "Supreme Master Ching Hai", then he/she/whatever is probably a fellow follower of "Supreme Master Ching Hai"!

KFCA, just in case you haven't completely lost interest in this saga, I thought I'd add here that the Wakelin's fund raiser for their movie closed up shop yesterday. I don't know if their movie was already in the can and made it to Cannes last month or not. Their crowd source cup didn't exactly runneth over. I have seen no updates on their site on what's what yet. I wonder if their contributors get their donations back or just a thank you if the film never makes it to the theaters or DVDs.
