Biophotons: a critical appraisal by Foundation IOCOB. Prof.dr. Jan M. Keppel Hesselink, MD and chair of the foundation IOCOB discusses the problematic biophoton therapy, and he also gives quotes from Dr Popp, the father of the biophoton work within plant physiology and other living systems. His concern is shared with us, treatment of the Starlight of multiple sclerosis, malaria, depression, schizophrenia, to mention a few. This is unbelievable, without any research done!

We herewith quote Dr Popp's concern:

We ourselves did never claim that "biophoton machines" are able at all. The living system is working with
biophotons which regulate the whole cell metabolism, since the about 100 000
chemical reactions which are permanently taking place per second and per
cell have to be activated by photons (according to the knowledge of biochemistry, see, for instance, the text books of biochemistry). This requirement of a extremely high coherence within the living system EXCLUDES the possibility of manufacturing a machine with this unbelievable accuracy and capacities. Nevertheless, there are always charlatans who believe in these miracles.

IOCOB thinks it is very troublesome to read the indications, among whoch we even find malaria and multiple sclerosis!!!!

And here the quotes of the startlight internetsite:

BIOSTARLIGHT

Welcome to Biostarlight, a Bio-Photon Coherency Therapy company that utilises StarLight technology to enable the body to heal itself. Biostarlight was founded in 2006 by Anouk Puper, a qualified Bio-Photon Therapist based in Chelsea, London.

WHAT IS BIO-PHOTON COHERENCY THERAPY?

Bio-Photon Coherency Therapy assists the body's immune system to function at optimum levels, which enables the body to heal itself. The Therapy utilises StarLight technology, which is a series of instruments capable of measuring light emissions from acupuncture points, using fibre-optic cables and crystal electrodes.

Once these light emissions or vibrations have been located the readings are fed into the system, which is fully equipped with therapy programmes based on common symptoms of other patient's experiences. The therapeutic process is then delivered using optical glass electrodes, held in the patient's hands.

WHAT CAN IT BE USED TO TREAT?

Bio-Photon Coherency Therapy is commonly used to treat allergies, anxiety, acne, asthma, arthritis, blood pressure, bronchitis, chronic fatigue, colds and flu, intestinal problems, depression, dyslexia, emotional problems, electromagnetic disturbances, herpes, glaucoma, gall stones, headaches, leukaemia, scars, stomach complaints, pre-menstrual tension, migraines, kidney stones, menopause, nose and throat polyps, prostate problems, back pain, whiplash, crown's disease, lyme disease, pfeiffer syndrome and multiple sclerosis.

EXAMPLES

Scar Therapy:

Surgical scaring causes a great disturbance to the body, primarily in the blockage of the organ's energy supply. With the StarLight one can treat these scars and in about 50% of all cases, the scar disappears completely from the skin's surface. In all cases the scar tissue that has formed disappears along with its associated weather sensitivity and redness.

Spin Inversion Therapy:

An increasing number of people suffer from "electron spin inversion". This is caused by external magnetic fields that influence the rotational direction of the electrons in the body. As electromagnetic fields surround us in our everyday life (computers, television, electrical appliances...) the likelihood of electron spin inversion increases. The usual result is chronic fatigue, allergies and a body that works against itself. This therapy returns the electron spin to the proper direction.

Dyslexia Therapy:

There are many people who suffer from dyslexia, a non-integration of the brain hemispheres. This treatment treats more than just dyslexia.

Psychological Problems:

There are those who claim that physical problems stem from psychological disorders. It has been our experience that the reverse is true. Depression, manic depression, schizophrenia and phobias are all improved with the StarLight."

no gabriel. has nothing to do with biophotons.

By crossbreeding one kind of stickleback prone to schooling with another kind of stickleback more reluctant to join a school, the researchers identified two genomic regions in sticklebacks associated with schooling. One of these regions is also associated with development of a highly specialized sensory structure unique to fish, known as the lateral line, which can detect vibrations in the water.

The lateral line is made up of cells called neuromasts, which are similar to the hair cells found in the human ear and enable the fish to sense changes in water currents and respond accordingly.

Doesn't he just make you want to lie down on a couch with a cold wet washcloth on your forehead? I think that's what I've got to do right now.

its a fact that real science just leave their comfort zone and throw away the model they used to. Its a pity that so called traditional science stop to grow and is therefore dead matter. I embrace the new science who dare to challenge themself even if they are criticized bij many so called "science". Like the universe, we humans keep moving otherwise we are going to die. Please keep coming out of your comfortzone and keep exploring and keep moving ...even if this is in the unknown. (sorry for my bad englisch but my energy and information will give you the right true story)

the fact that science cannot proof something it doesn't mean 'it can not possibly work'. Science cannot explain why life exist, gravity etc, we have just discovered what dna is... we are still in diapers!

If an idea presents itself to us, we must not reject it simply because it does not agree with the logical deductions of a reigning theory.

I have been treated with this machine, for my lyme with good results.... whatever this professor is telling you.

The information provided here is: it can not work because it can't possibly work. Theoretically it can not work and so it doesn't work. Has there been any research on the results of this machine? Is this objective science? Who has to protect what interests?

Rufflekz 6 years ago
The information value of this video is zero. I would like to see some practical results, not just your theoretic assumption that it doesn't work.

The thumbs down from Popp himself overrules the peanut gallery, IMO.

fresh, I am glad you were amused. smiling smiley

I have not heard good things about the Advanced Bio Photon Analyzer from folks in the radionics community. The creator of the device does not really explain how the device works, customers have been having troubles getting technical support from the manufacturer, and I doubt this device has anything to do with biophotons.

I think radionics is cool, and it can work well for some people. One thing about radionics technology is that it is operator dependent, meaning that the consciousness of the operator is critical for the device working properly. Kind of like energy healing, not all people can practice it. In the US, radionics is illegal for health care, but it is OK for use on pets and agriculture. Radionics practitioners can heal a farmer's crops of disease and pests. Other radionics practitioners are able to use radionics for manifestation, meaning they can make a person's desires come true.

Radionics has a large dowsing component, so people who are able to dowse with success will be good at radionics.

The thing is - the operators who are really good at it don't need to use props at all.

from david wolfe's video above

we know for example that we can capture your energy field in a vial of water and then treat the water it treats you

you don't even have to treat you

if you want me to into the depths about where it really is at
i can do it but i can't do it tonight, it's just too much

(my god please don't)

i have one of these devices at home and i know how
to build one

(sure you do)

you can't even use the word radionics it's illegal
in fact if you try to put that word up on the internet
that's the end

(what?)

that technology deletes the pharm industry
because you can take a tree that's diseased
and you can get a sample of the disease
you get a sample of the trees frequency
and the disease frequency
put the antidote
frequency into the captured water bottle of
the trees frequency and the tree in the yard is healed.

i know this works
i had a thing in my foot years ago that was absolutely
intelligently invading me.
it was very tricky
i have way more tools now
but the way i defeated it is somebody had
a radionics machine

i'll scrape a piece of the skin off
i'll put it in there
put the antidote frequency into my water
i'll drink that water
in one month it knocked it out

mult chem sensitivities...
you can take a piece of tape
collect all the dust in the house
put it in one of the holes in the machine
you do the antidote frequency
put it into water
drink the water
and your body can then handle the dust

it works with cat allergies in a monumental way

if you have food problems
put your own frequencies into the food
so the food comes into phase with you
it's part of you
when you eat the food your body can
recognize it's a part of you, not foreign

the radionics machine has an antenna -it takes 120 seconds
wrap it around the grocery bag and go to work

i did that for a long time for fun to see what it can
do and i know what it does it's amazing

how does it work. through a scalar wave phenomenon
we don't really understand
this was figured out in the 1850s
by a doctor!

it's totally ridiculous

(indeed)

it's impossible no matter what under
and circumstances for me to be sick ever
got all those choices
not gonna happen

and i've been through some serious situations
airports
36 hrs no food and no water
not drinking that water no way
gotta tough thru that stuff.

you are a mind-numbing moronic charlatan, david.
there . i said it.
------------

In physics, a quantity described as "scalar" only contains information about its magnitude. In contrast, a "vector" quantity contains information both about its magnitude and about its direction. By this definition, a "scalar wave" in physics would be defined as any solution to a "scalar wave equation".[4] In reality, this definition is far too general to be useful, and as a result the term "scalar wave" is used exclusively by cranks and peddlers of woo.

Bio photons are very real. It's too bad quacks and goofs use the concept for their own purposes but that's what quacks and goofs do.

I think this guy's comment was worth reading, as were several of the more technical other comments ...

"Austhinker

The really sad thing here is that this sort of garbage takes advantage of the fact that there are things that science can’t explain, so the more gullible, or more desperate, can be convinced that maybe this is one of those things, and persuaded to part with their money.

Meanwhile, potentially useful unexplained effects and treatments get lost in the woo noise.

Yes, Billy Bee, there are some of us searching for alternatives, and there are also a lot of charlatans making a lot of money by pretending to have those alternatives. There are also honest people out there with part of the puzzle who have convinced themselves they have all the pieces. If we accept all the guff out there as gospel, we’ll be led up the garden path and won’t have any money or hope left for the real thing.

Keep up the good work Orac. I found this page while checking whether biophotons are real or woo, and whilst I still have insufficient evidence there, your woo-meter seems spot-on on the ABPA. Products like this deserve to be ridiculed (hey if I’m wrong, at $1,795 a pop he’ll soon have the money to finance the research to prove it)."

It's from this blog I found in a search I did after Prana posted his David Wolf and the "Advanced Bio-photon Analyzer" stuff here. There are embedded videos of the machine presented by the inventor in the link, too.

some people need/love magic and miracles, and some not so much.

anytime david wants to provide actual proof i am all ears and eyes.

i suspect it will not be forthcoming.

saying that your toe healed a month later after doing X is not proof of anything, nor is any of the other frequency/energy rubbish he spouted on about and claimed that "it works"! trust me! oh and by the way i am a massive plagiarizer. yeah, ok.

fresh,

"To realize that our knowledge is ignorance,
This is a noble insight.
To regard our ignorance as knowledge,
This is mental sickness.

Only when we are sick of our sickness
Shall we cease to be sick.
The Sage is not sick, being sick of sickness;
This is the secret of health."

Back to biophotons. The roots, which I posted elsewhere, once again.

The Russian discoverer was Electrobiologist Alexander Gurwitsch and he called these ultraviolet mitogenic emmisions "mitogenic radiation" which later became known as "Gurwitsch rays" before they were renamed "biophotons".

This ultraviolet radiation is in the 180-200 nanometer range. Gurwitsch found them only in onions and garlic. They are associated with their allinin's sulfur bonds.

"Gurwitsch named the phenomenon mitogenetic radiation since he believed that this light radiation allowed the morphogenetic field to control embryonic development. His published observations, which related that cell-proliferation of an onion was accelerated by directing these rays down a tube, brought him great attention. Some five hundred attempts at replication, however, produced overwhelmingly negative results, so that the idea was neglected for decades until it commanded some renewed interest in the later 20th century.[3] However the furore, which may have sparked Wilhelm Reich's similar Orgone experiments, brought Gurwitsch an international reputation that led to several European lecture-tours. His work influenced that of Paul Alfred Weiss in particular.

"Gurwitsch was Professor of Histology and Embryology at Moscow University from 1924 to 1929 but fell foul of the communist party and was forced to relinquish the chair. He then directed a laboratory at the Institute of Experimental Medicine in Leningrad from 1930 until 1945, though he was forced to evacuate during World War 2. In 1941 he was awarded a Stalin Prize for his mitogenetic radiation work since it had apparently led to a cheap and simple way of diagnosing cancer. He was director of the Institute of Experimental Biology in Leningrad from 1945 to 1948. He sought to redefine his "heretical" concept of the morphogenetic field in general essays, pointing to molecular interactions unexplained by chemistry.

Gurwitsch retired in 1948 after Trofim Lysenko came to power but continued working at home.[4] Sadly his wife Lydia died in 1951. In 1953 Irving Langmuir dubbed Gurwitsch's ideas pathological science. However his daughter, Anna, continued his work and, shortly after his death, contributed papers that supported some aspects of her father's work on "mitogenetic" rays.[5]

Field theories of morphogenesis had a heyday in the 1920s but the success of genetics confined such ideas to the background of biology. Gurwitsch had been ahead of his time in his interest in the emergent properties of the embryo but more modern self-organization theories (see, for example, Ilya Prigogine) and treatments of non-equilibrium thermodynamics in living systems would show the extent to which the vectors he described can be generated without the assumption of an overall field, so that the search for a physical field was abandoned in favour of more neutral concepts like the paradigm of Systems Biology. The early interest in physics which inspired Gurwitsch in the end tended to render his ideas untenable.[6] The "mitogenetic ray" was one of the scientific topics qualified by Irving Langmuir as pathological science.[7]

However, the tenacity of Anna Gurwitsch, together with the development of the photon counter multiplier, resulted in the confirmation of the phenomenon of biophotons in 1962. The observation was duplicated in a western laboratory by Quickenden and Que Hee in 1974.[8] In the same year Dr. V.P.Kazmacheyev announced that his research team in Novosibirsk had detected intercellular communication by means of these rays.[9] Fritz-Albert Popp claims they exhibit coherent patterns. These studies have drawn only fringe interest.

There has been a recent revival in field theories of life, albeit again at the fringes of science, particularly among those who seek to include an account of developmental psychobiology. The influence of Gurvitch's theory is particularly evident upon the work of the plant physiologist Dr. Rupert Sheldrake.
