the crow took my papaya

The following is what I saw during 2 days of doing this

and this

it was a hardcore mountain bike trail.....
Before the ride -
I ate one grapefruit and one banana.
No water.
No water during the 2 hour ride either.
80 degrees

ate some little tomatoes from my pocket during the ride.

ate some of these growing on the side of the trail

ate some of these from wild trees on a previous ride

two of these beauties
were foraging as i rode by and they stared at me just like this
then they bolted.

i almost ran over one of these . it was just off the trail.

one of these was crossing the trail

plenty of these. mostly running to the nearest tree

saw a couple of these from the car as they were nursing on a farm

saw some of these from the car

some of these from the car ride

these were running through a field

these swoop over your head on the trail

saw one of these carrying a fish overhead

not very fond of these

a few of these

i startled one of these, it was an awesome specimen about 2 feet across.
he scuttled to the lake and slid down a 45 degree embankment.

grabbed the tail of one of these as he slithered away- it was about a 6 footer.

this guy

this guy.. magnificent

looked just like this going to the trailhead

ran across in front of me

many of these. one met his demise and was on the trail being eaten by ants.

some of these

a 10 footer
10 feet off the side of the trail

these are seen on the side of the road from the car.

NOW about the crow and the papaya

when done riding i went to the campsite and ate a papaya.

dropped some on the ground by accident. left it there on the ground.

laid on the picnic table feeling the breeze. listening to the birds.

a crow swooped down over me and made what seemed to be threatening noises.

i think i was too close to the papaya for his comfort.

i moved away and observed.

he ate 2 of the 3 pieces.

he made what seemed like a different call.

his friend suddenly appeared.

his friend ate the 3rd piece.

he left the 3rd piece for his friend!

cooperative behavior by crows ! amazing....

life
on
this
earth

a
stunningly
diverse
miracle

So neat, fresh! Where the heck are you? My guess is Pinckney Island, or someplace in South Carolina?
