Imagine being in bed in your sleeping bag and some naked fruitarian comes in and starts giving you a back massage and he is all oiled up with coconut oil. He tells you that coconut oil kills any stds so its ok- what would you do? And he has a beard...and big muscles..and he says he is 100% but you doubt it because raw foodists dont have strong sexual urges. WOuld you do it?

Not if I was married with children. Not if I didn't engage in indiscriminate sex. Not if I wasn't shallow and only cared about looks.

SO it is sexual harrasment!

One would have to have been there to know what went down. Maybe it was just a guy being friendly and innocently saying something like, "Here, let me help you relax after all the work you've done preparing raw food all day." LOL

I didn't know a person had to make a 'request' of someone to massage their muscles when it's in an informal environment or else it's considered 'sexual harrassment'. Except on campus, of course eye rolling smiley

And if this -

"And durianrider/freelee were aloof with the guests," is the best the gossips can come up with, it's pretty lame. Of course, they were aloof - they've been raked over the coals for a year now since the last Festival. Their name is mud. LOL

Remember kids. You don't need to supplement the perfect diet. [www.youtube.com]

HH,

some questions for you

let's say you have the "perfect diet".

but you don't get any sun for some reason.

do you supplement?

does it make that diet inferior to some other diet?

is that different from b12?

another question. do you supplement on your diet ?

if the reality is that on an otherwise good diet, there is insufficient b12, do you choose the route of neurological damage or do you supplement somehow or do you eat animal products? is one choice better than the other in your opinion?

All I'm saying is that the diet has a glaring imperfection, something that I believe needs to be recognized more often. I also find it interesting that people who criticize supplements are actually on a diet that requires supplementation. Of course I supplement.

I also think the all raw vegan diet is unsustainable for many people, and that anyone who follows it should get tests regularly as feedback to avoid irreparable damage. But I'm not convinced that it's the all raw vegan diet itself which is flawed. Some people may not be eating all components of the diet - raw fruits and vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, sea vegetables, sprouts. Maybe juicing should also be emphasized. But I really think the reason the diet doesn't work for many of us is the various conditions our individual bodies are in when we start the RFD. Like I think my body has irreparable damage from gluten and that I screwed up my body's ability to utilize the power of the sun by all the suntans and sunburns I got when I was younger. So the diet doesn't work as well for me as it would have if I had started eating the RFD as soon as I was born.

If someone is on their deathbed and start the RFD and a month later they die, you can't blame their death on the diet. That's an extreme example - LOL.

But do any of us really believe the all raw vegan diet works for everyone all the time without supplementation. I forgot whether or not Bryan and John Rose are of that mindset.

Edit - I'm only referring to 100% raw vegan. I'm confused now on whether you guys are referring to 100% Raw Vegan or just 100% Vegan.

Exactly, those are the two main issues. It's VERY easy to obtain enough vitamins and minerals on a raw food diet, with vitamin K2 potentially being an exception and a little trickier to get. Probiotic colonization is essential for manufacturing K2, various B-vitamins, and overall nutrient absorption. Gut health is arguably the most important factor when it comes to overall health given that it makes up the majority of your immune system, produces neurotransmitters, absorbs nutrients, and detoxifies the body, Many people likely have toxic guts with low levels of probiotics when they first start on a raw food diet, already putting them at a disadvantage which ultimately gets blamed on the raw food diet rather than previous bodily damage.

Well said, jtprindl. I should get into probiotics, but it seem mysterious or something; the same with supplements. Whole foods seems more natural.

I just looked at this bottle of probiotics that I bought when Bryan recommended it a few years ago - SCD Essential Probiotics - that I only used a couple times, and I see it's expired now, so I'll throw it out. It being a liquid in plastic always skived me. I'll have to check out powdered probiotcs. Do you have any that you recommend?

I used to supplement with probiotics every once in a while but now I just eat kimchi. The amount of probiotic bacteria you get from fermented foods far surpasses the amount you would get from supplements, plus it's cheaper. Now I just toss some kimchi into my salads. These are the supplements I used to use:

Somehow I can get 2 oz. 'SunBiotics' jars for $3.99 at one of my local organic co-op's even though they are priced at $24,99 online.

Kimchi's good. I used to make my own, using sea vegetables instead of salt.

Thanks. I looked at which cultures they each contain. Some people are knowledgeable on the various cultures and know which ones are the best. The three that I had read which are important are - "Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus acidophilus (optional). The strain we must avoid is Bifidus as it has been found to cause bacterial overgrowth in the gut. Bifidus comes in quite a few variations e.g. Bifidobacterium infantis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus Bifidus, Bifidobacterium longum etc, in general avoid anything that has bifid in its name."

Wow! You could buy a bunch of SunBiotics and sell them on Ebay at a big "Profit" (dirty word, greedy capitalist) - LOL

What about the fruitarians who eat cooked fruit, are they welcome at the thai fruit festival?

The ones who live in eskimos. Who do not supplement.

( I guess you need my German sense of humor)
