Hybrids

Hi Guys
I'd like to get the opinions of other people regarding hybrids, but not fruits, I want to talk about veggies hybrids. A lot of people think hybrid fruits are bad. But what about hybrid veggies? Isn't their mineral and nutrient balance messed up for a sweeter taste, like sweet corn, or some of the new spinach varieties?
What do you think?

Hybrid fruits are not bad.

Hybrid vegetables are not bad.

Hybrids are not GMOs.

Everything for sale in the produce market is a hybrid.

I like carrots. Carrots are hybrids.

Peace,
Ian.

I'm not talking about GMOs. Different subject
I'm talking about natural versus man made veggie hybrid.
People keep talking about fruits, but nobody talks about hybridization for veggies. Why?

Yes, you never mensioned GMOs, but given that this thread pops up once every week or two I figured I'd cover the standard disinformation before somebody else brings it up.

Hybridization is none issue, but people love having issues, veggies are kind of hard to pick on, but sweet fruits are are easy. Everybody knows if something is sweet, it's bad for you... well of course NOT, but some people like to think like that.

Are hybridized plants bad for you? Of course not!

Could none or limited hybrids be healthy for you than heavily hybridized plants? I think so, but that depends on what the plant was hybridized for.

I think the biggest issue we should consider about hybrids is the preservation of older strains. Preventing the older hybrid plants (just about everything we eat has been a hybrid for 100s of years, they are nothing new) from dying out because they are not as economically viable as modern hybrids.

As for veggies. I like veggies. If you like veggies too, then you also like hybrid veggies, in fact the odds are you've probably not eaten a non-hybrid veggie unless you are eating wild plants.

Cheers,
Ian.
