Date: February 01, 2007 03:47PM Some people from my office will be in Miami in March, and I really want them to bring home some Durian for me to try. Where could they go to get one for me? And, would it make it home on the airplane? How big ARE they? Durians look huge! Re: coconutcream, and others in Miami.....

Date: February 01, 2007 05:39PM I would NOT recommend bringing durian onto a plane. The odor is very strong and people on the plane and in the airport might jump to fear-based conclusions.
Also, IIRC durian is banned in Singapore from being brought onto planes, subways, and maybe even into hotels. Because of the strong odor! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/01/2007 05:44PM by learningtofly. Re: coconutcream, and others in Miami.....

Date: February 01, 2007 05:46PM Yogamama, do you have any Thai restaurants near where you live? If you do, a Thai person working there might be able to help you find durian locally, if it's available.
Cheers. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/01/2007 05:48PM by learningtofly. Re: coconutcream, and others in Miami.....

Date: February 02, 2007 01:40AM I think it smells a little like a canteloupe that somebody urinated on. But they can smell worse when they are past their prime. Re: coconutcream, and others in Miami.....

Date: February 02, 2007 07:48AM I had a friend bring me a frozen durian on a plane. In a cooler. If it is unfrozen you won't get it thru the front door, but frozen is not as bad.. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
