Fruit + fat

Why is it not considered "proper food combining" to mix fruit and fat? How big of a deal is it if you do mix them? My meals usually consist of salad with avocado and seeds, some fruit for, dessert, and often I'll have a date or two as well; that's just how my cravings progress during a meal.

Also, for those of you who do practice proper food combining, have you noticed a big difference in how you feel compared to how you ate before?

YES...i have noticed a big difference since food combining properly...

just do your fruit first....then wait maybe half an hour....then do your salad with the fat....

its soooo much better that way....try it

its because fruit digests so much faster than fat...so if you eat the fat first...the sugar will end up just sitting on the fat and begin to ferment...

It took me a long time to figure out and I still don't always get it, but this advice really helped me:

The reason we often crave sweets/sweet fruit after a fatty dinner is because we didn't get enough carb calories during the day. For example Doug Graham suggests and it helps me and many others I know: fruit for brekky, lunch and first course dinner, then 2nd course dinner is your fatty dish. If you have all the fruit you want all day, you'll be less likely to want it after the fat which will help digestion. Food combining has sure helped me. A good resource is "Food Combining Made Easy" by Herbert Shelton.

Love,
Uma

I'm currently reading "Food Combining Made Easy" & "80/10/10".... I'm trying like the dickens to get a grip on food combining.

This board has been most helpful.
