smelling like a RAW person
Posted by: rawrnr ()

My good friend knows when i've eaten a bunch of greens, or even a green smoothie, she has figured it out numerous times...
She says my breadth smells like the "outdoors" Dirt....
So I guess we don't smell all that great to cooked ppl?!

That's funny! I've known two rawfooder friends who had a lot of banana/kale green smoothies and both of them got a very specific breath smell. I didn't think it smelled like dirt but I didn't think it was exquisite either. I'm not a great fan of kale/banana. But I haven't noticed it from any other green smoothie combo!

I've been told I smell of fruit sometimes - but that's probably because it's all over my clothes from harvesting lol -

ela, it's nice to see your lovely face, as lovely as your soul.

When my family eats durian, we can smell it under our armpits. Which reminds me of the time I smelled durian for the first time and compared it to a fart (beg your pardon). Would durian lovers smell like that to others??? Then, the expression "old fart" could take another, double meaning. I hope I have not offended anyone. smiling smiley

Also, I recall eating halva made from unhulled sesame seeds. It looks like dirt and tastes like dirt (sweet type). And, is actually quite yummy.

I was just about to come on this forum and ask a question about raw food and body odors when I found this post. I've only been raw for about a week and a half, and I'm not quite 100% but suddenly my body odor and breath has changed, I don't smell like myself! I smell like dirty garlic or someone else's BO. It's on my hands, my armpits and my breath. Yuck! Even my boyfriend noticed and said something. It's both funny and unerving. I like raw thus far and I'm hoping this is a temporary side effect but I don't feel like I am detoxing.

Haha - this is a funny thread. Lovely to see you too, Gosia - I adore the smell of durian, so would happily be an old (or young) fart! And after saying I was 'gung ho', I didn't post the picture of harvesting fruit and smelling of it that I intended to - here it is hopefully...

Cukes - if it's only been a week and a half, I'd say hang in there sweetheart! I like that you see it as funny as well as unnerving. When you move to a way of eating that frees up energy for your body, it'll start to clean house and all kinds of stuff will start to come out. It's a fascinating thing to realize that the skin is a major organ of elimination. Can sometimes be inconvenient, as we can't restrict skin- based elimination to visits to the bathroom - but better out than in, eh?

love
Ela

My husband noticed a while back that after forgetting to put on deodorant he went all day and didn't have BO. I have notice being cleaner in my mouth and my body. Cleanliness from the inside out.

Smelling raw? Hmm.

The women I run with tell me I smell like garlic, onion, bananas and oranges.

The garlic and onion I'm sure is on me from the prior night's salsa; I usually eat bananas and oranges in the morning.

Maybe I'll try to post a pic too.

Thanks,

Arilraw

Hey Cukes! Yup - that's part of detoxing - increases and changes in body odors.

After 2 years raw, I still notice a bit of increase in bo when I improve my diet by reducing acidic foods and increasing alkaline foods. I'll probably experience it again in the spring when I cut down on nuts and seeds and up my fruit.

Congratualtion - it will pass soon.

when i drink juiced spinach i think i smell like my pigs breath! lol, thats not a bad thing though, because they eat burdock in the field, raw piggies.

I love the smell of health. to be honest, if I smell someone who is a unhealthy it puts me off.
I was seeing this guy before and he smelt amazing, like a pantry of fresh food - now thats what im talkin about!!

I think you can really smell health on people, i think I could probably smell someone unhealthy with my eyes closed; lol : ))

My body odor is not nearly as offensive since I've gone raw. I read an artical that claims virgin coconut oil makes a great natural deodorante. I'm trying it for the first time today and so far its actually working.

After four and a half years of raw I have to admit that I sometimes go for more than a week without showering or washing my hair, simply because I don't get smelly anymore. Ok,Ok, so I sound like a dirty old woman (especially after my posts about urine therapy smiling smiley but what can I say. And I do exercise, I go everywhere on my bike, often with my youngest son on the back. I walk my dogs for an hour every day. Like coconut cream I can smell myself when I get stressed out but the smell seems to disappear again, it doesn't stay on my body. As for my hair, I live in the city so it does get dirty but I just rinse it with water once a week or so and that does the trick. I just love all these little extra's raw gives me. Life has just become so easy. No soap, no shampoo. Hardly ever use moisturizers anymore, beautiful!
