Date: February 17, 2007 02:09PM I have wondered if persimmon seeds were edible so I did an internet search. Seems some people have used it as a coffee substitute. Confederate soldiers, I've read, used it. Here's a link for anyone interested in trying it out. I couldn't find anything more detailed than this. I haven't tried it. I read that someone defies any man to tell the difference between this and coffee! This webpage shows other substitutes for coffee. I'm glad that I have never been a big fan of coffee.

Date: February 18, 2007 06:11PM My favorite coffee substitute is sesame milk made with unhulled organic sesame seeds, water and either a small amount of unsulphured blackstrap molasses plus a small amount of honey OR a little bit of honey and organic cocoa powder (preferably raw cacao powder), all blended up at high speed in the blender, no straining. (The hulls have the highest amount of calcium) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
