thread on vegsource about dipped fruit such as mangos and papayas.

from what I gather Grahams stance is: imported fruit is not 'prime food for humans' unless i'm interpreting it wrong. which is indeed a bizzare stance considering

I usually don't let such things phase me, nor do I like spreading fear, but was curious what the 'more removed' on this board think

Sometimes, you just get a gut feeling, that something is not raw, or treated. It just looks different than truly raw and organic.

We shouldn't have to go by instincts or gut feelings. Many times, the information is on the produce box it is shipped in. The produce dept employees need to put signs up, informing us. However, this would cut back on sales, when stores want to sell and profit from quick sales of produce.

I have a friend who works in produce, and she is all organic and notifies the costumers that the coconuts are "dipped" in fermaldehyde. She said she would not feel right about not telling people, when they think that eating young coconuts is so healthy. Ironically, she works at a health food store, and really, dipped coconuts have no business there to begin with.

Coconuts are healthy in the rare instance they are not dipped and organic. This is what the natives, where the coconuts grow, get to enjoy, because they are usually only treated when they import coconuts.

I pay a dear price for organic papayas from Hawaii, 5$ a lb. I sure hope they are truly raw and not treated. Unfortunately, they are my vise. But I don't drink, smoke or do drugs, so hey.
