Dateline's PLUG for irradiation

This seems weird to me. They moved my post on produce irradiation giving this message as the reason for moving it:

"This forum is for discussing what is considered OFF TOPIC for the other forums. It is still a VEGAN forum, so no animal products, please."

Since when are vegetable/fruit irradition and animal rights NOT vegan issues?????

all of the forums are vegan forums, that isn't why it was moved. It was moved because it was off topic. technically this is the 'Living and Raw Foods Discussion' board and there really isn't a 'main board'. I think most people don't tend to check the other boards so sometimes posting general or 'off topic' issues is important. sometimes I think its silly certain things get moved, but you can't argue with the semantics. the titles linger for a bit and it does keep things cleaner, so its good to think of it more of a service.

I'm wondering why they consider it off-topic at all. Irradiation is something every vegan raw foodist should be concerned about. Why isn't it valid to talk about that on this board?

kwan,

I was wondering the same thing. Thanks to you and some others who have posted on this forum I am checking into Codex Alimentarius to see what I can do. As someone who wants access to organic produce I am VERY interested in this type of issue. Perhaps it is concidered off topic because it involves politics? But if politics is going to cause access to healthy produce to become very limited, isn't that going to become front and center to most any raw foodist?

I agree with kwan. I learn do much on this board on what foods to avoid and that are irradiated..makes me get organic more.

Kit and Coconutcream,
Yay!, people like you are the reason I post this stuff. I was going to say 'babes with brains,' but I'm not sure if Kit is a female or male.

BTW, David Klein is going to have an article on Codex in the upcoming fall issue of Living Nutrition Magazine. He's onto this issue, so it should be a good read. (He's also going to interview me!!)
