DOES THE COLDNESS EVER GO AWAY?
Posted by: miaculpa ()

I AM COLD ALL THE TIME!!

Does it ever go away? If I lose my well earned toxic body fat, will I become a little frozen/shivering/quivering carrot-chomping mass?

Please share!

When I first went raw, I was cold all the time because I had lost so much body fat. After a year of being 100% raw, this problem just went away all by itself. So in the meantime, just wear some extra layers or turn up the heat in your living space.

Bryan, is that because you gained back some of your body fat?

This winter we were under 18 deg, for about 2 weeks straight, not a problem.

I find that when I eat, I get cold suddenly. If I lay down under the duvets and nap when this happens, I often wake up uncomfortably warm. My hubby is going through the same thing.

Strange...it is just since going raw.

Mia,

Are you eating your foods at room temperature? Or are you eating them straight out of the refrigerator? Letting your foods warm up to room temperature helps with this problem.

mostly room temperature, actually.

The man doesn't get as cold as I do, but he DOES get cold...so I cannot attribute it to my usually 'chillies' that I get before my monthly cycle.

I tend to leave all the fruit and things on the counter.

I have been eating very high fat this last week (on a tahina kick), so I don't think it is from weight loss, though I still see the old body morphing.

I wonder if it is from my blood pressure lowering or something?

Your adrenal glands need time to heal; once they do, the coldness will go away.

I get freezing cold! I always get colder immediately during/after a meal. I thought it was just me.

i've been having major problems with this as well. i live in LA so it's not weather-related. i can only wear so many layers- and even if i'm wearing 2 shirts and a sweatshirt or jacket, my face and fingers are still so cold they're numb. today at work i ate cooked food just b/c i was fed up with sitting at my desk chattering in my long sleeves while everyone else was wearing a t-shirt and feeling warm! of course i felt like crap afterwards and will not do this again, but after i ate the cooked food the coldness went away and i was able to concentrate on my work. i thought that was very strange.

now that i ate raw food for dinner, my fingers are numb again. i guess it's the price we have to pay for an otherwise wonderful way of living.

Add me to the cold club. Bryan, you never answered my question. When you started to lose the coldness, which you had attributed to losing body fat, was this due to a regain in some of that fat?

I became cold because my actual body temp lowered (I checked). I haven't been losing that much weight, so I KNOW it isn't fat loss.

I read somewhere, it may even have been here, that people who eat cooked food are running a slight temperature all the time and when you stop eating cooked food your temperature drops to what is probably a more natural level.

When I first started eating raw I was cold all the time as well. I can't remember how long it lasted but since I've started eating low fat/high fruit recently I've started feeling cold again as well and especially after eating.

Miaculpa, I was referring to Bryan's supposition that it might have been lowered body fat, in his case. I tend to agree that doesn't have to be the case. Hence my question to him whether he had regained some of that body fat when he started feeling warmer again.

Lower body temperature is also common in calorie restriction (which I practice to a mild degree) and could indeed be a factor in its ability to extend life:

Francis, I also eat low-fat. So, between low-fat, raw, and CR, I'm not surprised I'm cold. Given the study findings, it may be sufferable. smiling smiley

I hope it does go away. I am always cold but I live in a cold climate. I have to turn the heat up all the time.

I was just the opposite, cold all the time on cooked food, esp after eating, then when I went raw my body temperature normalized.
