bought dried goji berries :-(
Posted by: ReneeK ()

I bought some dried goji berries from the local organic store. The taste is nothing to write home about. I guess I should try soaking a bowlful in water for a few hours in the fridge until they plump back up into berries. I was just kinda disappointed because I'd heard so much about the berries and then when I tried them they tasted like styrofoam. :-(

So tomorrow I will plump them and see if they taste better. :-)

I also think they taste kinda bland and gross.
Luckily I didn't spend a lot of money on a whole bag of them.

Good luck with plumpling them though!

Goji berries are soooo good. A lot better than eating raisins (too sweet for me).

I only like them thrown in smoothies. It compliments the other fruit in it without that weird, medicinal aftertaste. I usually don't even bother to soak them first.

I ended up giving my first bag to my gerbls after I read the back about them being from Mongolia..which is where they're from. Watching them eat them and like it makes me think it's more rodent food anyway. lol.

I like them ok, but don't think they are at all worth the hype -- or the price -- charged for them.

thanks, it was my christmas project for a big christmas dinner. making it was a pain.anyways, I had to beg for teh goji berries people stashed them.

goji berries have all the amino acids in them, supposedly, but what do people know about anything, really? we are just a bunch of monkeys trying to put meaning on things.

I felt the same way when I first tried them a few weeks ago. They're getting better, though.

I put them in my smoothies in the morning and I think they take the *blech* off of the maca root. I soaked them overnight in coconut water last week and I think they were the key to the best smoothie I've made yet. smiling smiley

They also grow on you in salads. I toss a handfull of them in a spnach and avacado salad and they really do add to it.

I never liked them, I mean, I tried them soaked, I kno wthey have all the amino acods in them, but why can't we get them raw? dried fruits is not my thing, I get so dehydrated.

Because they are too delicate when they are fresh, they wouldn't travel. To eat fresh ones you would have to grow your own!

I think they are ok. They have an interesting flavor which is quite subtle, I would like to try them fresh really. I have only had the dried kind.

I have to say I was disapointed given all the hype about their flavor, but oh well, after all there is a lot more to life than eating smiling smiley
