What's good to eat before excercise?

I've been drinking 16oz of Orange Juice in the morning before taking my dog for a walk and towards the end I get symptoms of low blood sugar. I usually feel better not having food in me digesting while doing any form of excercise... but not lately. I thought OJ was good for blood sugar too.

The same thing happened to me recently (I had watermelon, not OJ). I don't like exercising on a full stomach either, but since I'm fairly new to raw (3+ months) I'm finding that I do not yet have the capability to store enough so that I can exercise on empty. Hopefully someday I will get there.

My vague guess is that 16 oz of OJ isn't enough. When I had 1/4 watermelon and then worked out - same symptoms as you. When I had 1/2 watermelon or 6-9 bananas, then no problems, but I still ate again afterwards for quick recovery.

i cant eat citrus's stuff before working out either ...bananas work great for me, i find i need this carb boost before working out, about 30 minutes before ... then lotsa greens for protein and calcium to start muscle repair after same withen 30 minutes

bananas are great...i can have three and be good for a couple hour workout.

before running i like orange juice though, or melon...i run about a half hour after eating, so maybe thats why it works for me.

If your still in your cleansing/detox period it doesn't matter what you eat before exercise you will still feel it or get symptom of low blood sugar because your body is busy at work, even if you don't realise it.

I don't have anything before exercise and I do great!

I've also done 3 ultra marathons on 16oz of OJ each time.

I found the same thing.

A little nut butter on the banana or a few nuts gives me more stamina. Also watch out for dehydration - that gets me more than the blood sugar.

Before yoga, I definitely prefer an absolutely empty stomach.

I've usually eaten bananas or bananas and oranges before I run. Lately I've been adding a half avocado just for stamina on longer distances.

I can pretty much eat anything raw before doing aerobic/weights, as long as I'm not too full of course.

I am not 100% raw, but I find eating before exercise makes me too tired to want to exercise! haha...
