Lightform,
Yes, definitely I think short fasts can be very helpful. They've helped me from time to time when I was too busy or had some other reason I couldn't do a longer fast. I asked a friend who's a raw food coach in California about this last summer, because he has a lot of experience with fasting and Natural Hygiene, and he told me absolutely, 3 day fasts are great, and he said "Don't listen to anyone who tells you they're not."

I'm fasting right now! ;-) Wonder how long I'll go this time. It's day 2 for me and so far I feel surprisingly energetic and generally ok. My husband has promised me I get to rest and just laze around the house for the next several days (we had a lot of errands to do today), so I'm psyched about maybe accomplishing a lot of detoxification with this fast. Wish me luck!

I started my water-fast yesterday ( Because of headache) and I think I end it tomorrow so it will be about 3 days long. So when I saw the fasting question I was so happy, I knew it will be beneficial to read it. I just want to thank you, it came right in time for mesmiling smiley

Nice Kwan !

I am definately interested in fasting as a means to greater health and higher awareness rather than soley to recover from something. I find that my own diet is closely connected to my state of mind and vice versa.

I'm going to have to try it soon.

re medications, is the thinking that anyone taking a prescription med should not do a fast?

My body has been crying out for a fast. I feel like I need a pause, a break from any confusion over what food/vitamin is having what effect on my body. I would just like a couple of days to give my mind and body a rest and just meditate.

But..I take thyroxine (very little, but still..). Should I not be considering a fast at all? The juice fast is not very appealing to me since I'm still experiencing blood sugar ups and downs.

There's a lovely lady who used to post either on this forum or another one, who was on throid medication and had been on a raw diet for some time with sensational results. I wonder if she ever fasted? I'll try to remember her name and look up her blog; if I find the info. I'll certainly let you know.
