Okay, I called Ancient Sun and asked about the cleanliness, etc. of the Animal Manna. The answer is that it is okay for human consumption, just a slightly lower grade of algae (with a slightly higher bacteria count that is well below FDA requirements to be all right for human consumption).
I'm so glad...! This brand has been highly recommended to me by someone who has been raw vegan over 25 years and has tried all the best whole food supplements (but who takes the more expensive Crystal Manna and Blue Manna).
