It is supposed to have healing properties on internal wounds like ulcers.

Has anybody any experience or insight into Slippery Elm? Has anyone ever used it?

yes, we've harvested it from the trees, dried it and ground it in the mill. used it all up and havn't gotten around to getting more for awile. we ran across a story of a boy that got his hip shot away in indian war times, his mother prayed for wisdom/help, she had a dream in which she was told to wash the wound with ash water from a certian wood, (antiseptic I'm sure) then pack it with slippery elm bark, (as a ground up paste I think) The joint grew back in perfect as kind of a soft cartlage and then hardened over time, he grew up and had full use of the leg.
