B12 and Vegetarianism

One of the primary arguments against vegetarianism is the lack of B12 in the diet. The algae Chorella and spirilina have large amounts of B12 but I don't hear it used as a weapon against those that attack the vegan diet and its lack of B12. I've also heard that the B12 in these foods are not absorbable by the human body. Can anyone comment on this? Is the B12 in these algaes absorbable by the the human body?

There are probably little bits of animal excrement clinging to some sea plants which would lead to a measurable real (not analog) B12 content.

I get my B12 from a pill.

In nature, B12 is synthesized from bacteria only. It's a horrible not to mention inefficient thing to kill an animal just to get the B12 from it that it got from bacteria living in its gut that produced it.

Getting the B12 directly from the bacteria is a kindler, gentler thing. And it's vegetarian/vegan.
