Thanks for the analysis. I think getting some in is important, but lately I've been stressing out about if I was getting enough, or if there was a limit to how much we need--this puts things into perspective.

Wheatgrass Yogi, how do you use it for massage? Do you mix it with an oil?

I have a morning Ritual where I drink about 3 ounces of
Wheatgrass Juice, followed an hour later with 28 ounces (plus or minus)
of Carrot Juice. I rub both juices into my skin (without oil) as I'm
drinking them. I finish the massage using Nylon Gloves designed for the
skin. After my kitchen is clean, a trip to the local Spa washes most of
it off. It gives the Body a healthy Tone and Glow. The Secret to this and
anything is 'Repetition'......WY

Your skin is absorbing some of the phytochemicals that you rub in, and these will give you some protection from UV radiation damage and other forms of elective aging and impart color as well.

I don't rub these things into my skin but I do have orange palms from my diet.

Does everyone always have to do what's been done
before? Why don't we break some new ground?
How are you doing these days Elnatural?
By the way, an Alkaline Diet doesn't have to include only Green
Leaves......WY

According to Matt Monarch in his latest book he says that our bodies stablize if we eat healthy raw and gradually evolve to desire less and less food as our cells become cleaner and cleaner. If we allow it to it seems as if our bodies follow a path of healing over the years to states of health which include a diet that may seem odd to many of us.

I agree with Dulset,
Being very cautious, one may(depending on lifestyle, activity, environment etc..) desire quite "bizarre diet", or menu, ON HIS/Her path of body healing itself.

POINT:Healing is a PART of life, not the essence. Other factors should be considered to create balanced conditions for our life's, ourselves.

Maybe we should slowly start talking about some outlines for "mental" diet..? :-)

Just as there are optimal foods for our body to heal/thrive, maybe such "menu" should be created for our minds to heal/thrive..

That could be fun to be exchanging ideas, and "ingredients" for "drinks"/ "dishes" for our minds, just as easy as we talk in a diet "language"..

I have noticed that when I put a lot of greens (about 9 oz) into a smoothie It gives me a very calm feeling for awhile after drinking it. It feels great. I call it the nutritional "buzz".

I've noticed the same thing EZ. When I
use to have a Blended Salad (heavy on the Kale and
other Greens, with no Fruit, except Tomato) every
evening, I noticed a "Nutritional Buzz" too. Hey, I
kind of like that Term. Does anyone get the same feeling
with Fruit?.....WY

I get calm fasting. After cleaning all the poison of my body I'm thinking in starting a Sun-food-diet.Like the breatherians,go outside bear foot and have a sun-food-energy,instead of too much food.Or even a wind-energy in the winter.

I have found that yes the greens do give me a wonderful calm at times but fruit gives me an energy I "feel" I can't live without - provided I'm exercising regularly - and the high from exercise is incredible too, especially the stamina I'm sensing which I find phenomenal. If I don't exercise I feel uncomfortable/too much energy.

I am thin and have a fast metabolism btw and have been transitioning for over a year and 80/10/10 is the ideal I aim for.

I have a Friend exactly like you. She's on 80/10/10
and usually exercises twice a day. As I've said
before, I feel Great when I eat her Diet.
Do you eat Lettuce during the day to 'balance' all the Fruit?
I'm trying to cut back to two meals a day. Who wants to spend
their time eating all day long?......WY

The calm feeling after greens is because of the calcium. Calcium does that. I always make sure to get calcium in when I want a good sleep... and make sure I don't eat any calcium foods before the gym or before any exercise because they will slow me down.

Thats a good idea. I will try to make a green meal the last meal of my day.

That explains why I like fruit before exercise. Thanks for the helpful post. smiling smiley

That calm feeling is magnesium, actually. Calcium would be just the opposite, as it causes muscles to contract, whereas magnesium causes muscles to relax. But alot of magnesium foods also contain calcium so I can understand the mix-up. Magnesium is what gives that good mood feeling. Not enough magnesium/too much calcium makes people "uptight" & rigid.

Given humans' substantial requirement for magnesium, and also that huge amounts of it can be stored by the body, I can understand how raw foodists, once they stop ingesting magnesium-depleting processed things (like coffee, sugar, pharmaceuticals, also sweating), can eventually begin to sustain themselves for quite a while on all fruit.

The danger I think comes when greens are viewed as less than ideal or an aberration from the "cleanness" of fruit.

The body will eventually crave greens and nuts again, because magnesium is our most important mineral and there's not much of it in most fruits so eventually magnesium foods will have to be revisited. Conversely, it's also not possible to keep eating just greens and nuts forever, because the body will eventually top out on the magnesium and then we need to start eating fruits.

I'm guessing that once you're at a place where you stop craving magnesium foods, and you start eating alot of fruit, you'll only need to revisit greens & nuts every once in awhile.

I would think the calm is also related to the carb makeup of greens as compared to fruit.

I ate ALL FRUIT yesterday (an experiment with the pace of my detox) and still hit FAR BEYOND the magnesium requirements on fitday...

Variety, variety, variety, is all you need!! =)
