Weak Digestion?
Posted by: Anonymous User ()
Date: June 03, 2006 03:58AM

Greetings,

I've been eating mainly Raw for the past 3-4 months. At first it was very easy, and exciting! It's still exciting, but I've found that lately, I've slipped more and more, or been overeatting a lot as well. I'm dealing with that and it's not going to be a problem anymore, but what I'm wanting to know is this. Lately I've had really odd digestion. My stomach has been grumbly, and well, my bowel movements are never hard, or compacted, they are more smoothie like, more...nut buttery like. It's not that I really consume those things, I just feel that my digestion is very weak or something. Intuitively I'm getting the signal to start taking lots of my probiotics, but I'm wondering what any of you might suggest for really rebuilding up digestive fire, if that's what this sounds like, or what your opinons may be on what's going on with me, any help is appreciated.

Namaste,
Pauvro

i try to follow proper food combining...which has helped my digestion a lot...

i also take enzymes...i take vitamineral green pretty much daily which has probiotics in it...you could also eat some more fermented foods which my help...and supposedly that Kombucca Tea is quite beneficial for digestion...i just think it tastes bad...

Have you tried alfalfa? It is supposed to be a good digestive tract cleanser/rebuilder. I take the tablet form and have had no problems with bowels at all. Almonds are good for that too, though. They taste better too.LOLOL! !

I feel i have similar problems with overeating... but I simply get constipated. is it true that lack of sleep causes constipation... or just slow and/or poor digestion?

It's very good that you're listening to your body. Proper food combining has solved alot of my digestion issues. Also, make sure you're eliminating after every meal...in the morning b4 your meal. I've found that I like not eating upon rising until after I've eliminated last night's dinner...then I eat a breakfast of fruit...I do fruit all day until dinner....then I properly combine dinner.. Also wait until a food group is COMPLETELY digested before delving into another food group....this will really help your digestive system...I also agree with those above. Rejevelac and sprouts with food help with the digestion process. Good Luck!

I highly encourage you to take a systemic enzyme supplement such as what Dr. Wong on totalityofbeing.com suggests. He is a strong, and firm supporter of vitalzym, as I am, but isn't aware that one of the originators of this product came out with a new one called zymitol. Anyone, over the age of 27, who thinks that they are getting enough enzymes to restore what has been washed away through improper eating is fooling themselves. I have felt more alive since taking vitalzym, and subsequently zymitrol- which should be refrigerated because it has no fillers. Anyway, you can find vitalzym at a local Vitamin Shoppe or on the web. Zymitrol is only available on the web.

Peace,

Marcos

Weak digestion. Not so. Too Fast maybe Yes.

I find that when I eat too raw or not enough protein it becomes too fast. In your 50's and 60's this can cause pain.

Being aware of how to control how much and how often is key.

Add a soft cheese like mozzarella or feta. Is cheese okay on a vegan diet?

I had years of raw food and juices but that did not solve my digestion problems until I got into fermentation.
Every one is different but getting into fermentation was the answer for me.
There were many posts on this forum by the Sproutarian Man on sprouting and fermenting, that how I got started.

And it works for me. Sprouts grains and beans and ferment.
Every thing flows inside, no fight, no gas, no pain.

I feel that a lot of people are just starving to death, literally and that is why they are overeating. Emotional issues are also part of this of course. First and foremost is what you are putting in your mouth. Eat as little animal products as possible if none at all. Pump up your digestion with some bitters or something. Take wheatgrass juice: two ounces twice a day, this is probably the most important thing you can do! Also take 200mg magnesium per. meal to keep things moving. Or and at least once a week do an enema to flush out any bad stuff that has accumulated from the poor digestine. You could also add some fiber if you like. Try some ground flax, chia, psyllium etc. You probably have some type of organ toxicity or dysfunction of some kind and you should be checked out by a holistic md if possible.

We can fix all of that stuff. I had some of the worst digestion of anyone and had all of those symptoms, and l have helped others digest better.

How about we start right from the beginning?

I would like you to tell us exactly what you eat in an average day and what foods you eat at each meal. Please don't leave any details out.

When I started to eat healthy a long time ago, I would notice that my food wasn't digested properly. This might have lasted quite a few months until it went away! I would notice undigested bits of food... :p I had suffered from IBS for years prior to eating healthy btw, so I guess it just took a few months for everything to adjust and my digestive system to become more effective in breaking down the food and absorbing. smiling smiley
