What oil doe you use for your bamboo or wooden cutting boards?

I have read that olive and other vegetable oils are not good to use for oiling wooden or bamboo cutting boards because the oil turns rancid. Lots of advice is given that "food grade" mineral oil is the best choice. (I know other raw foodists will gag just as I did with the use of "food grade" before the words "mineral oil," which is a byproduct petroleum!)

So what IS the best thing to use to keep a cutting board from warping and splitting? I won't even put lotions that have minerals in them on my body. I certainly don't want it on my cutting board!!

Hey 24,

Not sure but I just get a bottle from Bed, Bath and Beyond. They are now carrying lots of bamboo products and they also have mineral oil that is good for cutting boards.

Peace,

Marcos

I tend to think that mineral oil is both rancid & nonedible. I rub coconut oil on my board.
