I feel great when I have watermellon juice. Is it full of electrolytes or something like young coconut water?

I'm not sure about those, but I know the natural sugars are fairly high in watermelon. Those are good for you though.

When I eat watermelon I get totally blissed out. I wonder if there is some major amount of tryptophan in watermelon.

LOL, I'm not alone in this!!! I definatley get good feelings from my watermelon conoctions. It makes SUCH great smoothies and its just like juice when you blend it!!! All melons are but man...Watermelon drinks are so refreshing.

What I like to do is just blend the whole thing, seeds too, and strain it so I have a watermelon smoothie seed milk. The seeds are great for you with lots of zinc but their hard to chew down well, so I strain them after their blended.

Watermelon is also a high iron food being so red.

I blend the seeds and the rind and throw very little of the red part in. Why eat all that sugar.

I hope that helps.

I didn't know you could blend the rind. I thought it would make me sick. I guess I listened too much to my grandparents as a kid(not that I did very often. LOLOL! ). That's a nice piece of info. Thank you!

I love watermelon too! When I lived in Spain I sometimes lived on just watermelon for a couple of days at a time!

Not true. Acording to Nutritiondata.com it contains 0.2mg of iron for a 100g serving, which is not much at all.

Bryan, I just checked the Tryptophan content, it's not massivly high, but still a fair bit, 7mg for a 100g serving, compared to bananas at 9mg and avocados at 25mg.
