opinions on my 2 blender possibilities

Looking for a new blender...

I have the ability to get a used Blendtec, a EZ Blender, from a shut down shop, with about 380 cycles on it, they said "warranty until october" so I am guessing they bought it last October, for $250. Or go for the refurbished vitamix with free shipping coupon for $380.

From what I've read I would prefer the blendtec overal lI think, but for $130 I would get this guarantee for 7 years, for all parts, which seems like a good deal. If the vitamix will blend the berry seeds, make green smoothies, besides potentially needing a dry container (to blend greens and juice without water if juicer not available), etc, then it will serve my purpose. I have heard the vitamix is quieter but I've heard the opposite too. I've heard the pro/con, BPA free vs easier to clean shorter square container. 2 Blade vs 4 blade, 2HP vs 3HP, manual vs digital, and on and on.

Any advice for me?

Or any really good blender deals?

Thanks,

Eric

Blending is so important that I'd buy them both
(if I wasn't sure) and use them both side-by-side until a
firm decision is made. Then sell the one you don't like as
much....WY

Thanks. I've bought and sold many Juicers and
Blenders over the years to arrive at the 'perfect' ones
for me.
By the way, I signed up for a Vipassana 10-day Meditation
course a couple of years ago, but canceled. Ten days is a
long time....WY

I don't have the money to risk not being able to re-sell one of the blenders...

I have used a vitamix before but not extensively and not lately making what I'd make now, I can find one to try in town at someones house perhaps, not sure on the blendtec though.

I'm happy with my Blendtec, but I wouldn't cry if someone snuck in to my house and replaced it with a Vitamix. It's just so great to have a powerful blender. My Blendtec is quieter than one of the top of the line Cuisinart blenders.

What I would really like to do someday is some side-by-side comparisons with my "go to" smoothies. Lately, that's been spinach and just about any fruit (apples or oranges or bananas). I went through a parsley and fruit phase... I'd like to see how the taste and texture is, in side-by-side tests and also how soon smoothies oxidize. I can really taste the difference when I leave some smoothie in the fridge (in a sealed container of course) overnight. How much air have I whipped in there? That's going to cause oxidation sooner. I'd like to know which blender whips LESS air into the smoothie.

WY, if you are ever between jobs or have the time, it's worth it. But the logistics of getting that much time free are difficult for many people.

I'd be willing to Bet that's there's not much
difference between the two. I've heard a lot from the
Blendtec camp on Vortex, and Cavitation...and nothing from
the Vita-Mix side, so I'd guess the Blendtec is slightly
better.

LOL. I didn't mean I don't have the time, but
rather the inclination....WY

The EZ Blender, if the cycles are honest, is not a bad buy, but it is the low-end of the Blendtec commercial blenders. Remember the Chinese saying: "Expensive isn't expensive. Cheap isn't cheap." I. e: you usually get what you pay for. Doing raw foods takes the power and jar design the Blendtec has. See my earlier notes on Blendtec's HP3A which I love. $337.50 with a 3-Year warranty on the motor and on the jar, and 30-day unconditional refund. Manolie
