Variable speeds? Does it really matter? Has anyone used both models?

Yes, it does matter. The 2-speed Blenders have it wrong.
Low speed puts too much of a load on the motor, and going suddenly
to High speed throws the mixture to the top, creating a big mess.
Proper blending starts at Low and quickly works to High via the
variable-speed dial. Once you practice with it a while, you will
achieve the proper Vortex. The VS dial is well worth the extra
money.....WY

There's also a difference in warranty I believe. 5 years for the 4500 and 7 years for the 5200. So, a 2 year difference.

discuss what? As far as I can tell, it's a rebadged 4500, $80 less than John is selling the Turboblend VS variable (which I guess is a rebadged, 5200). 5 years. vs. 7 in warranty, one has variable speed control and 2 years more on warranty for $80. They both have BPA free carafes. What have I missed?

It's not the Vita-Prep 3, and the container isn't BPA-free, but it's a good price for a blender with a variable-speed Dial.....WY
