Vita-Prep 3 Revisited
Posted by: Wheatgrass Yogi ()

For those of you who are ready to take your Blending
experiences to the Next Level, I'd like to reiterate how pleased
I am with my Vita-Prep 3. I especially like the manual controls, as
every smoothie seems to require different speeds, even though the same
ingredients are being used.
I've replaced the old canisters with the new BPA-free, 32-ounce, Eastman
Tritan. It's just perfect for individual Green Smoothies. I use it like
a big glass, and just drink right out of the canister.....WY

WY - Thanks for the update. I am still considering which blender/model I want to upgrade to, & I appreciate your input. winking smiley

Still looking at the Warings & Vitamix, less at Blendtec now. At first I thought I would like the Blendtec, but now I don't believe I want all that fancy gadgetry/computer controlled digital system to end up breaking. Keep it simple, I say...

I tried the Waring MX1200, with a variable speed dial.
I don't think it's still in production. The Waring MX1000 has only
a High-Low switch, in addition to the on-off. I found the Waring
Canister and Blade assembly of poorer quality than the Vita-Mix's.
An interesting note is the Waring motor base will accept the Vita-Mix
64-ounce canister, but not the 32 or 48-ounce.
Let us know when you make a firm decision.....WY

Do you find that the center dial moves around while blending? I recently read a review where the user had this problem, she also stated that the dial moves with almost no resistance.

I would guess it's a problem that very few
Vita-Mix blenders have. Mine is working fine.
The center dial is constantly hand controlled, so
even if it's a little loose, it shouldn't interfere
with the blending experience.....WY

VitaMix is an advertising subsidizer of this site (see their ads below.) They make fine machines and so does Blendtec. The two have a good competition going on which is of benefit to all health savvy consumers. Search for the topic Blendtec_HP3A and look at some of the side-by-side comparisons matching the VitaMix blenders and the HP3A Blender (also with the BPA-free jar which does wet and dry blending, warranted for three years,) and see a demonstration at a local Costco or Sam's Club where you can realize a full 7-Years warranty, a discounted price, and the advantages of those stores' return policies (6 months, if I recall correctly.) You'll be more confident you are making a good purchase of either company's blender. Manolie

Also, ask yourself which 'type' of blender
serves you best.....manual or automatic. I like the
manual dials of the Vita-Mix line. You may prefer the
programmable cycles of the Blentec line of blenders.....WY

Edit: Nevermind. I just clicked the link in your post. Duh!

Hi WY,

Is this the Vita-Mix 32 oz. BPA-Free Container you have?

I just want to make sure it's the same one and it fit's my Vita-Prep 3 before I order.

Thanks,
Michael

Yes, that's the one. Since I wrote about it I've
gone back to using my 48-ounce Canister, which is not
BPA-Free, but which I like much better.
One realization I've come to over the years is to go with
small meals (16-20 ounces)....be they from a Juicer or a
Blender.
Happy experiences.....WY
