A new way for me to Juice
Posted by: Wheatgrass Yogi ()
Date: July 13, 2010 02:29PM

I have 3 Juicers in use now. I'm going to
take 2 of them out-of-service, and go with only 1....
the Omega 8004. I can juice wheatgrass-celery and
wheatgrass-carrot at the same time. Before, I was
using one juicer for Wheatgrass, and one juicer for
Carrots, and one juicer for Celery.
I know many of you own more than 1 Juicer....Paul and
Katz come immediately to mind. Any others?.....WY

This is going to be difficult because I've had a
long-term Love Affair with my Wheatgrass Juicer and my
Carrot Juicer. But, such is life. Or as the French have
it...."C'est la Vie.....WY

Considering going with one myself, though it'd be the VERT. Same reason actually. When I use the Big Mouth, centrifugal, it's mostly to force fit large volumes of hard produce when I'm in a hurry. And the VERT, and 8004 I'm sure are just as quick.

Well I have both the Breville centrifugal and the Hurom and I find myself using both. I thought that once I got the Hurom that I would have given the Breville away, but I find that I use both. The Hurom/Vert is just not as great with celery and soft produce like cucumbers and watermelon. The pulp drives me crazy.......I just don't like the two-step juice/nut mylk bag process.
I was so excited about the slow juicer.........and I really love the quality of the juice and the dryness of the pulp, but the pulp in the juice is excessive depending on what I juice. Celery also requires being chopped into shorter pieces to avoid getting clogged up.
The Breville is quicker but also the pulp is not as dry....although when I tested both side by side with the same amount of fruit and greens, the difference in the amount of juice was really minimal.
All in all, I find that though I intend to use the Hurom, sometimes I grab the Breville instead. So I'm almost wishing I had gone with WY's choice of the Omega 8004.

Just the Greenstar and a citrus juicer.

I've actually been using the blender to juice and quickly straining the pulp. It's so much faster to do and clean. I'm still "transitioning" back to raw..I guess once I really get back into it I'd be more into using the Greenstar. The blender takes less than 15 minutes to blend/juice/strain/clean.

The excessive amount of wet pulp with my Breville prompted me to get rid of it a while back. I loved the wide mouth feeding, but too much waste & as shazz150 mentioned, I am not into a 2 step process, unless i am using my Norwalk.

My new Omega Vert is doing quite nicely for my needs, I am using it for many of the uses that John Kohler does on his youtube channel;

Nut milks, butters, sorbets, ice cream, and of course juicing. I see myself keeping 2 juicers in the picture - The Omega Vert & the Norwalk.

If I really had to choose between one or the other, I would have to go with the Norwalk. The Norwalk is simply too versatile to let go. it will do everything and much more than the Vert will do, and it will not break no matter what you feed into it.

WY - why are you deciding to go with just one juicer - is this a way of simplifying your life?

Well, it couldn't get much simpler than it is
right now, but yes, it does make juicing easier by having
to clean one juicer rather than two. My Omega 4000 (centrifugal)
was best for juicing Carrots. My Wheateena Green-label
(single auger, metal-on-metal) was best for juicing Wheatgrass,
but my Omega 8004 is best for juicing them together, which is
the way I think it should be done.....WY
P.S. You're getting quite fancy making butters, nut milks, sorbets,
ice cream, and juicing. Do you ever get out of the kitchen?

lol

well...I do all my own food prep, since I am the only raw foodist in the house. It doesn't really take as much time as you might imagine. I do it all at once if possible. Nut butter, almond milk, coconut milk, all at the same time & then we are good for the week.

I should take a cue from you, WY - I do feel the need to simplify at times, get rid of all the "stuff".

Only juicers I have ever owned are the Juiceman Jr,and now the Juiceman Pro.
They are fine for general purpose juicing.
Not great juicing greens, but its adequate.

I hate to see you using such an inferior juicer.
As much as I admire The Juiceman (Jay Kordish), he sells
a cheap product for the serious juicer.....WY

I disagree!! The 'secret' to juicing is to mix Green Juice with the main juice....be it Carrot or Celery. I wouldn't juice Fruit at all, rather opting to eat it.
A centrifugal juicer is not the way to go......WY
P.S. Try drinking some diluted Green Juice. If you can't get Wheatgrass, buy a bag of organic mixed Greens at your local Food Store.

Actually my first day was a bit difficult, since then Ive been doing quite well, My friend Dave said Im riding at about the skill level now that he had after his first year or two riding, that isnt saying much though since he has been riding for more than 30 years, but it makes me feel good that im doing so good so soon, his main reasoning he gave for the statement was that I seem to be hyper observant, noticing and reacting to many hazards including other drivers often before he even notices them, its just im still to timid with the throttle he says, and I brake to soon, and by his standards I take turns to slow...but I think im gonna stick with my standards as ive seen him take a 35 mph turn at 75...lol... one problem ive noticed myself though, is I get distracted to easily while riding... I notice TO much of whats going on around me... oh well, break for awhile from riding while I rebuild my forks anyway...

Inferior juicer?
Hmmm.
All I know is that I get a ton of juice out of it.
Are there DIFFERENCES in the QUALITY of the juice?

If you did a side-by-side comparison with a Breville,
or an Omega, you would see that the Juiceman doesn't produce as
much juice, is inferior in quality, plus it's loud.
However, I like Jay Kordich' philosophy. Here he is telling us
how to juice Oranges.....he has a cute Wife too.
Btw, Jay no longer sells Juicers, but rather lectures on the
value of juicing. He went to England just recently......WY

Jodi.....I just watched the video you provided. It
looks like the JuiceDaddy would be a nice blender and juicer
for anyone just starting.

Yes, back2eden, I still have my Wheateena Green Label. I could never
sell it, as it will always have a special place in my Heart. Besides,
I may start back using it again.....WY
