I'm just now seeing your initial post.
A manual wheatgrass juicer is the best way to go if you
have the time, because you control the speed....therefore
the friction. Any electric juicer will create excessive
heat....even the 80 RPM models......WY

Either I don't know how to use my manual wheatgrass juicer, or it is not worth the money. It cost about $30 USD, is made of pot metal and has a hand crank.

Putting one of those small pots of wheatgrass that you might see at evil megacorporation resulted in one droplet of juice (like from an eye dropper).

Using a proper amount of wheatgrass (~3/4 of a 22"/11" tray to produce 4oz), would be rather labor intensive and very wasteful compared to using a juicer with interlocking gears that crushes the material.

Using my juicer (green life, now called green star, I think. ~$300 USD) produces much more and it is not heated to any degree that I can notice.

Mincing the wheatgrass and putting it in a blender with water resulted in juice that is close to cooked. But, if you have a better technique than I do it might be a good option to add some minced wheatgrass to other stuff that you are putting in a blender and then straining through a paint strainer bag or nut milk bag.

I recommend going to a juice place and watching them make wheatgrass. Note how many handfuls of wheatgrass they use to make a tiny amount of juice. Also, pick some grass, squeeze it in your hand and see how much juice you get out of it.

The one I ordered has the auger bit that spins with the crank.
I saw Dan the liferegenerator use one to make wheat grass juice,and it worked good,oozing out the rope of pulp,which looked pretty dry.

i got one of those a while back
but to be honest
it didn't win me over
i felt like i was there all night trying to get just a glass of juice
i was so super excited when i first got it
then the excitement waned when i realized that i'd be spending the rest of my life in the kitchen with this thing
it was very labor intensive for me
i gave it away to some dude ( so i could FINALLY have a social life.. jus kidding
surprisingly though,
the dude said that
operating it was a piece of cake LOL
and he had great success juicing wheatgrass
then again, he had a lot of upper body strength, strong hands etc.
and he was in love with wheatgrass
so... it was worth it for him

i like the greenstar better
and it does an excellent job with wheatgrass

but the manual works too
and the good thing is that you could take it to the park and juice too
it makes zero sounds
it wastes zero electricity cuz you provide the electrical labor

you could climb the top of mt everest
and as long as you had something with a uniform length that fit snugly and securely between the two metal parts ( like a sturdy mini table that was secured..) you could juice there too to salute your climbing victory

but please use champagne glasses to celebrate with wheatgrass

The 8 weeks were usually a much LOVED model kit,or a telescope,or some other really wanted item

Got it today and it works great!
I got about 6 oz of juice from two big handfulls of lettuce.
This will be a much used item.

I own a Z Star which is terrific but can be tiring because it is a hand crank system. However, I suggest you wait for a semi automatic hand crank juicer to hit the stores soon. I heard from a friend that the makers of the Z Star are planning to come out with one very soon.

Above all, I would love to buy a Green Star Elite if I had the cash. Oh well, in the meantime, I am very happy with my Z Star =)

Mine is the Healthy Juicer.
Its mostly plastic,but seems very sturdy.
I dont mind the work involved at all.

Have the stainless steel "Miracle Wheatgrass Juicer," and I love it--the pulp is bone dry and the juice is rich tasting. Plus, it's a great workout for the biceps and deltoids

good workout for the 20 min or so I get to crankin.
I get about 1 oz of juice for every two big romaine lettuce leaves.
One tip.....REVERSE the direction of the auger bit to bring more pulp and potential juice into the cup.Then press the pulp thru a screen with your fingers.

At least it's there if you ever need it again.
I used a manual Wheatgrass Juicer (stainless steel
Back-to-Basics) for many years. I don't remember it being
work or messy.....WY

I guess that is the reason I never bought one. I figured I would use it a few times & then put it in storage. We're too spoiled with modern conveniences to do it the old fashioned way!

About a month ago got this thing out and have been cranking it every morning to make my juice from leafy greens!

That's too much juice for a manual on a regular
basis. Best to upgrade to an electric, and use the
manual as a backup......WY

I am wanting one of these contraptions. Not necessarily for wheatgrass but mainly for leafy greens.

The health food store has the Miracle Wheatgrass Juicer in stock - $169
They also have the Z-Star in stock - $159
I can order a Healthy Juicer online somewhere for about $55 plus shipping.

I guess I will have to compare. I think the Miracle is made of metal, the Healthy Juicer is polycarbonate and the Z-Star a combination of the two? I'm not sure.

I wonder why the Healthy Juicer is so much cheaper, because its plastic?

Don't buy this one. I owned one years ago, and it would wrap the Wheatgrass around the auger without passing it through. It does have a 'reverse' switch to back the grass out, then switch to 'forward' to move it through. This got tiresome very quickly.....WY

In my online search for reviews on the manual juicers I could not really find any info on the Manual Miracle Wheatgrass juicer. Lots of good demos and reviews online for the Z-Star. I may purchase it - instant gratification - I can go and get it without having to wait for someone to send me the other one. Just call me Veruca Salt - I want it NOW!

The Healthy Juicer works good.
The only thing with it is that you have to keep reversing the rotation to bring the juice back to the exit hole.Other auger type juicers have the exit hole much further forward,but on the HJ its way in the back.
No big deal.
Just more of a workout for your arm
