New to Vitamix-made my smoothie warm?

Hey everyone, new here.

I just got a used Vita-Mix 3600 and used it to make my first green smoothie. I mixed it for less than 2 minutes and it was warm when I was done. Is this normal?

Also, there were still small bits of apple peel present in the mix. Still did a better job than my food processor, but was hoping all the little bits would be liquified. I was afraid to blend too long since it was getting warm.

Any input?

I think thats why some people like to put ice cubes in it...

Did you fill the carafe very full? It needs some room to mix. In place of the ice cubes you can freeze some of your fruits and use them to keep things cool.

I usually don't blend for a solid 2 min.; I will do maybe 30 sec. or maybe a bit longer, then I will "pulse" the blender, alternate between hi/lo.

Try adding a bit of produce in stages, not all at once.

Thanks for the suggestions, juicerkatz! I'll try those. I really appreciate the help.
