Vitamix's new 48-ounce, BPA-free, container
Posted by: Wheatgrass Yogi ()

I just got off the phone after speaking to Linda, of Customer Service at Vitamix. She informed me they put the wrong blade assembly on the 48-ounce container I recently bought, which was the reason it didn't fit my motor base. Anyway, I'm getting that straightened out.
Some of you might be interested in this size container. It'll allow the Vitamix blender to fit under a standard 18" cabinet.....WY

Just talked to Vitamix representatives from both departments (household & commercial). Allegedly there is a 48 ounce carafe for the Vitaprep 3, it is product # 15504. It is the smallest carafe available for the Vitaprep 3. Forewarning; it's not bpa free! All household carafes have bpa free carafes (going 3 years now) and none of the commercial carafes are bpa free according to the representative I talked with.

I think this is just weird. As per WY's experience, it's unfortunate that you can't just take the household 48 oz carafe and stick it on the Vitaprep 3. Hmm maybe you could just switch out blades between the carafes tho? Seems not worth the wasted money and materials though.

Yes, that's what I'm using now.

I'm in the process of doing that now. I'll soon
have a 48-ounce, BPA-free, container for my VP-3.....WY
P.S. Nothing is ever easy. Haven't you noticed?

@ WY
Yeah I feel like people make it intentionally hard and especially expensive to be healthy sometimes.

I received my 48 oz carafe a few days ago, it's definitely more convenient compared to the 64 oz. I think w/ a 32 oz carafe you would have the truble of keeping liquid from splashing through the hole of the lid at high speeds.

It's great to be able to put the blender under the cabinets, put the carafe in the fridge without too much effort, and best of all I am making smaller portions (1 & 1/2 tall glasses) as opposed to at least 2 tall glasses before guh.

Update....if anyone with a Vitamix is interested. I've tried the new BPA-free, Copolyester, 48-ounce container. I don't like it as well as my old Polycarbonate, 48-ounce container. So I'll stay with what I have been using, even though it's not as 'safe'. In comparing the two containers....the old one is easier to clean, the lid goes on and off easier, and I can drink right out of the container like a big Glass....something that would be difficult with the new. The new container, in it's favor, looks better on the motor base, and might give a slightly better 'mix'.....WY

VM seem to be in the habit of mixing things up. When i asked them to send me a replacement lid for my Advance container ( it was getting blown off ) they sent me a lid for an XP container instead. On second try though they sent the right lid. Now i have 3 lids in total smiling smiley At least i didn't have to pay anything - i like that part.

It's too bad they don't make a 48-ounce container to fit
your motor base. It must be bulky to make one serving every
time in your 64-ounce container? However, I understand it is
only marked to 48-ounces.....WY

actually this carafe fits perfectly into the gallon door bin in my refrigerator. i can also fit a bottle of vitamineral green in the same bin.

what it isn't any good for is blending small amount of sauce etc. for that i would want a 32 oz container, like the one ani phyo sometimes used in her youtube videos. maybe one day i can get that container to try and fit it, and if it doesn't fit send it back.

I'm sure it wouldn't fit, because your container will
only fit your Blender, and no other. I don't know what Vitamix
has in mind for doing that.
I have considered buying a second Blender. I looked very closely
at your Blender, and the one directly above it. I finally decided
it was too much power.....WY
