Plus, what to do with the pulp/fiber??

I saw mention somewhere about using something called a dehydrator to make veggie crackers...feasible?

Looking at Omega 350HD v. Green Star GSE-5000, but really don't want to simply toss away pulp/fiber....

Interesting idea to use the pulp to make crackers.
I guess it could work.Not sure of the resulting taste though.
I have only dried whole veggie slices such as squash.

I would say that the auger type juicer would do a good job .

Twin gears are generally more expensive, more difficult to clean but can produce a higher quality juice. Single auger juicers are less expensive, generally easier to clean and produce a good quality juice, albeit not quite as good as the twin gear. As usual, John Kohler has a great video comparing a single auger juicer (the Omega 8004) and a twin gear (Greenstar Elite). If you watch the video, warning it's longer than most at 36 minutes, John will provide some solid insights in making your decision, as he always does. [www.youtube.com] Little doubt in my mind that the 8004 is the better value in this case. But you will have to decide which is better.

I'm more concerned about nutritional value, aside from simply being fiber.

But they're both augers, aren't they, only one is a vertical auger and one is a double horizontal auger....

What makes for "quality" in a juice?

I'm confused...I thought John recommends twin-gear technology...what had me wondering in the first place was the report on another thread that the Omega VRT 350HD is his favorite juicer now....

Maybe I'll just save up for a Norwalk!

I would advise against it, but History must repeat itself. If you're new to juicing, start off with something more basic. The Omega line of juicers offer the best selections.

Sorry, what do you mean?? What's so bad about the Norwalk?? I don't like the two-step process myself, but pressing somehow appeals to me more than grinding/shearing!

Well, I'd like to get the "best" I can...why fool around, is my thinking...if I can afford it, just get it! Better one good wife than three hot whores, if you know what I mean!

Trust me....you don't want a Norwalk. I've been through want you're going through now. I finally bought one after months of agonizing about it. It ranks as one of my worst decisions. The juice oxidizes and tastes bad after being squeezed through the food-grade nylon bags......WY

well the Norwalk does grind and shear that is the first step really .. the 2nd step is squashing all the juice out from the pulp

personally i feel the pressing part really is just a glorified bottle jack system with 2 plates ...

WOW!! Really, the bags make it taste bad???

Can't imagine, though, how the Norwalk (or any juicer) could be held responsible for oxidation.

Really bad buy, huh? Wow...I'm still incredulous....

LOL -- you're right! I guess I'm all so focused on the pressing part I forgot all about what the first step is!

Wonder why the Norwalk doesn't just go ahead and press the produce directly....
