First day on Vitamix
Posted by: flex4life ()

First I blended romaine lettuce, cucumbers, cacao nibs ---> result was pretty nasty and thick

Secondly I blended carrots, celery ----> result was still pretty gross

Where can I get some smoothie recipes that taste decent and yet are also really good for an athletic guy like me?

Thanks

One that I like:

2-3 oranges, a handful of greens, and some berries

or, how about

pineapple, banana and spinach.

These should taste better, and might inspire you in the right direction.

You need to experiment with proportions. The more I do this, the more greens and less fruit I can add, but at first, I had to do mainly fruit or I just didn't like the taste.

Would love to hear what you come up with!

My standard breakfast smoothy:

- the juice of 2 apples and 2 oranges.
- 2 bananas
- 1 small chunk of ginger (one inch or half inch)
- 1 teaspoon of flax seeds..

I also tend to add any fruits left over from the previous day, like berries (strawberries go well in the above), pine-apple, kiwi, whatever I've got lying around.

Cheers,
Ian.

If my smoothie is too thick I eat it with a spoon or add water to thin it.

I love a little almond milk in some fruit smoothies too.

Last couple of mornings it's been 4 - 5 oranges and 6 stalks celery. If the oranges have a lot of seeds try to remove some of them, they make it taste bitter.
