This is Seth from Living Nutz. I wanted to bring this to the attention of everyone to see if they would be interested in helping by either emailing their email lists and asking others to do the same or with media relations. We are contacting national press/officials and anyone else interested in creating public awarness. We are going to blow the doors off of this and prevent it from going any further. This is abosuletly absurd. Info is below. The petition link has lots of other info about what has happened.
Recently the USDA, FDA and the California Almond Board passed a law stating that in August/Sept. of this year, all almonds grown in the USA must be pastuerized before entering commerce. Raw sprouted almonds represent 70% of our business. Living Nutz has been selling raw sprouted almonds for over 5 years. This new law will destroy that percentage of our sales. Another big issue to this is that there has not been a system put in place that will fairly represent this new process. Pastuerized almonds will still be sold as "raw". This is misleading and could be considered fraudulent. I have contacted local/national officials and started an online petition [www.gopetition.com] in a hopes to allow consumers the choice to buy pastuerized or truly raw almonds. I am also hoping to put into place some other kind of system that will prevent them from doing this to other produce in the future. Consumers should have the right to choose fresh or processed food.

We have contacted everyone suggested by the Weston Price foundation and NO ONE has responded. We have decided to take this into our own hands. Please, if anyone has any advice, please help.
