never fast if you have undergone an extended period of malnourishment.

otherwise just listen to you body and if it lets you know that it would like to do some internal housekeeping to pust things in order ...then go for it.

if you have never fasted bhefore...be forewarned that unpleasant symptoms may arise such as headache ligtheadedeness during the first few days as toxins are being churned up and circulated in the blood as they are being eliminated.
best to go for a 36 to 72 hour fast the first time...however if you feel like continuing and your body tells you to go for it..why not?

my best advice is to read on e of the numerous books which have been written on the subject.

there two schools of thought....one is for water only fasting and the other is liquids such as juices, herbal teas, and broth.

all of them will do the job.

a clean body inside feels really good.

Yeah, I've fasted before. smiling smiley

What's considered "extended period of malnourishment"? I would think that'd be Ok since you're getting nutrients faster. Unless you're skin and bones and need fat instead.

yes ...either too underweight or in short supply or defiecient on your reserves of essential nutrients....which would require a period of correct eating before embarking on a serious fast.

i think most people would be ok to start fasting for short periods of time ..gradually building up to a longer fast.

i dont mean to discourage any one so please dont worry too much about being malnourished. probably you are ok.

I think I am deficient on reserves.. I was hoping a 2-3 week fast would help get me back on track. :0

What kind of Fast you go on should depend on your internal physical condition. The Purer your body the more strict the Fast can be. If you're extremely Pure, the best fast is a 'Dry Fast', where nothing but air is taken in for 24 to 48 hours, sometimes longer. The next best fast is a Water Fast. If you're extremely impure, with a predominantly cooked food diet, the best move would be to work on your diet first, and forget about fasting for now......WY

you should fast when you have the time to do absolutely nothing but rest .. fasting while expending energy is really harsh smiling smiley

im gonna do a 4 day water fast this weekend and just sleep and drink water

jodi had brought up a really good point about resting.

fasting is about letting your body heal through toxin elimination and rest-repair.

for what you described....2 weeks on fruits, veggies, juices, salads, and strong will to avoid any bad foods will be better than a fast.

see how you feel after that and then try juice fasting for a few days only.

build on that.

Hey, isn't anyone concerned about the high heat produced at high speeds? I would think that to be an issue ... don't know for sure.

I have wanted a vita-mix for years, tempted this week they are at Costco - $359 - the extra 32oz container is $89 - best price anywhere - new that is.

Thanks for everyone's input - it all helps!

never buy a vita mix until you experience the burn out of an el cheapo blender from overuse.

also never believe the vita mix propaganda that carrots with a little water added and blended ....is the same as carrot juice or.... or as they say better than carrot juice because you get the valuable fiber too.

I'm adding Carrot Smoothies to my Liquid Diet, if I get hungry.

JJ....I didn't know Vita-Mix would put out such propaganda, even though smoothies can be an important part of any diet......WY

i bet it would too .. the guy that originally got me worm addicted lol .. he grew *experimental* plants in 100% worm compost and the gains he got were insane .. not to mention healthier plants means stronger plants means less diseases and pest problems smiling smiley

i reuse it my outdoor garden , my indoor plants i top dress the ones already planted untill i replant them then i mix worm castings into the soil mix, i quite often pour water through the worm castings and make a wormpoo tea (hehe) which i use as fertilizer smiling smiley

sadly im in canada so i cant get a baggie of the stuff to you because of crossboarder agriculture rules BUT if you PMme with a general locaion , i could probably hook you up with someone close to you so you could *experiment* smiling smiley

i could probably sell the stuff but i give losts away to neighbors too smiling smiley just passin on the poo ! tongue sticking out smiley

I can buy Worm Castings at Worm's Way in Tampa. Just haven't included it as part of the routine. Keeping Worms would be 'too much' for me at this point. I'm doing well to grow enough Wheatgrass for 2 juicings a day.

J....I bet it's Fun to raise Worms. How much work is it?....WY

ok cool ... maybe try a baggie of the stuff and see what results you get smiling smiley

the worms are actually really low maintence smiling smiley i keep a 3.5 gallon bucket under the sink for the compost its sealed so no stink or mess or bugs

i whip their compost cocktail up in the vitamix every few days and just pour it into a corner of the rubber maid tote and bury it smiling smiley i keep those on the deck

they do all the work ! smiling smiley
