pears....
Posted by: juicin' john ()

la veronique got me started using pears from the recipe she traded me, which incidentally was very good...the dandelion really added a taste something out of the ordinary when mixed with the pear.

anyway... yesterday i was driving down the road and i spotted a pear tree right off of the road and the pears were starting to collect under it ...quite alot of them and i turned around and went back and picked up a nice bag of the ones that were still on the firm and green side. the mushy and soft ones dont juice well. i evan got stung by a bee that was inside of one ...it was more of a shock than anything and the sting went away in about 15 minutes or so.

i put them in my spare refigerator on the porch and this morning i juiced about 7 or 8 of them with a couple of sour green apples which are growing wild near my house..and i added a small piece of ginger. wow what a great tasting juice!

look around for the free pears and apples.

Thanks JJ, I have two pear trees and an apple tree ready to pick, I'll try out this combo tonight. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what to do with all this fruit. This recipe sounds delicious!

ode to a pear

oh pefect shaped fruit

apple of my eye

your ambrosial flavor

lifts my senses to the sky

i smell the subtle essence

in your smooth and tender skin

protecting and previewing

juice wonders.. waitingthere within.

juicy luscious pear

alone as your own.. unique type

for juicing when you are green

for eating when you're ripe

two pears are a pair of pears

liked by people and by bears

and by bees..but beware of these

when you are searching for pears under neath the trees.

wow johnjuicerman !

more pear odes

once upon a time there was a pear
it was clothed in speckled lime and bare sunwrap
the blonde leaf fell from a tree
a leaf that had stood by her pear for so long
the pear looked down and saw the fallen leaf
and then

f
e
l
l

too

it did not wish to be on the branch
without the ray leaf
that sang with the staringales

all through the night
the pear became a river
of pallor

for juicemanias

and they were happy
not knowing

that the pear
too

had a melody to share
but did so

willingly

through the palate

I tried your recipe JJ, it was great, had to play around with the amount of ginger, but I got it. Very tasty and refreshing with a zing!

(I would have put that into a poetical form if I had the time)

congrats to jodee on her fine "guirilla well fare" tactics.

for any novitiates out there... this is a good way to go.

stake out the trees that are giving fruit which is not being used.

99.9% of the time they are 100% organic in addition to being free.

way to go jodee!!!

`
thanks to jodee's post about staking out prospective fruit trees for future harvest, i got onto to my new idea called "guerilla well fare".

new and true meaning to the word wellfare. (food that can make you well)

guerilla because we are unconventional... and because it really works in more ways than one..... and its also fun for many reasons...

greenstar is one of our tools which allows us to harvest from diversified sources with efficiency.

anybody who decides to change for the better(rawaaaaaaaaaaaaaw) is on our side.

all this crap about "more raw than you are" is just that and worthless towards promoting unity and good vibes.

be cautious with anyone who carries on with that attitude...get onto the path and let things unravel as they do for you. do not ever allow anyone to inflict that a "more raw than you" classification game onto you happiness. it's a sneaky gambit .. its not about unity and helping people evolve. if you are sincere ...it will certainly happen for you.

people tend to change when they get kinda famous so don't expect so called gurus to have it all together like they would like to have you believe. read study and think for your self and enjoy the friendship of those who are fellow "guerilla well fare" brothers and sisters.

we share and inspire strenghth with each other.

our goals are to have clean healthy and natural bodies from proper care.
a healthy body promotes healthy emotion and mind...they cannot be sepated one from the other.

we are a small group who can see the way which heals us for real...it is not realistic to think that the rest of the world will follow and change by any great percentage. we can only set a good example for others to follow.

know a tree by the fruit which it produces... and that reminds me...

stake out them pear trees everybody.

Okay, here's my rhymie poem about pears, writen after the fact...

On day one I beheld my blessed pear tree

and marvelled at the grand harvest

the Good Lord had given to me.

I picked and bagged at least seven score,

dragged out my ladder

and bagged seventy more.

On day two I began to juice and puree

these lovely orbs with ginger, apple

and mint, a lot of pears I must say.

Day three left me facing many a sack

of endless juicing still to perform.

oh dear these pears are killing my back!

On day four with but a score or two

of those blasted pears left in the sacks,

I packed them up and took them to the zoo.

May the lovely bears

enjoy those pears.

Veronique and juicin'john,

I'm having trouble juicing celery, cucumber and parley (together) with my new Greenstar 2000. Is there a certain way to cut the veggies or a certain order I should be putting them in the juicer?

Also, when you juice pears or apples, do you switch to the fruit knob?

Thanks!

yes...

the cucumber has very little fiber so it juice best "in btween" the more fibery things like celery and parsley.

cut he cumber in 2inch slices and then cut the slice lenghth wise and put them in slowly..that is tamp each one down one at a time with the wooden plenger and addd alittle parsely and celery when it seems to be backing up in the feeding chute.

celery normally goes through in full stalks but with the situation you describe here...i would recommend slicing in smaller sections so that you will have enough to do all the cuke.

if you are using alot of parsely and celery it wont be necessary to cut up the celery. just remember to alternate the fibery stuff with the non fibery stuff (cucumber).

pears need to be on the hard side for good juicing..slightly hard. if they are soft and juicy they will also back up in the feeding chute. if you go real slow you may get the lightly riper ones to juice. the ones i juiced were still a little bit hard.

dang... JJ knows his GREENSTAR!!

i wouldn't expect anything less from a green juice guerillameister...

great answer JJ.

on that note, i'm walking to the fridge and pulling out some dandelions and celery

and i got the hard pears that JJ described.. tis true.. its harder to juice the softer pears.. but its easier to juice the harder pears..

Yeah, I had been reading this forum for months before I got the juicer, so I knew he'd be the Greenstar expert on this forum. Thanks for all of the detailed info, juicin' john. I'll try it out this weekend when I stock back up on my greens.
