Blending or Juicing?
Posted by: be beautiful ()
Date: April 14, 2008 03:47PM

I've been making lots of green smoothies lately, and I find that I feel really great afterwards, and overall. But I know that lots of people think that juicing is better. All I know is that juicing lets you digest the nutrients much faster, since there is no fiber, but don't you want the fiber?

Thanks for any feedback you have.

I find that Juicing in the morning and Blending in the afternoon works best for me......WY

Yes, you do want the fiber. Blending partially breaks it down, juicing totally eliminates it. If you get enough fiber otherwise, there is probably no harm in juicing.

I use my blender almost every day. But, I put my juicer away a long time ago and I haven't felt a strong urge to take it out again. Mostly this is due to the blender being easier to clean.

There's more fiber in the Juice than you
realize. It depends on the Juicer. A single-auger (like
the Omega 8003) leaves lots of fiber in the juice. A
pulp-ejection (like the Omega 4000) leaves less fiber
in the juice, but it's there nevertheless.

Yes, it takes more of an effort to Juice
over Blending, but both have a place. I couldn't live
without my daily Carrot Juice and Green Smoothie.....WY

Yes WY, I should not have written "totally eliminates" I believe you that some remains in the pulp, but it is only a very small part of what was there to begin with and I do not believe it is nearly as beneficial as the whole food. The more it's processed, the less that fiber will act like intact fiber, which gives the beneficial bacteria in our guts fuel to turn into short-chain fatty acids which our intestines pass on to our bloodstream, which in turn keeps our blood clean and our arteries/veins clean and basically our whole cardiovascular system healthy and in tip top shape. It's also good for keeping the colon clean, sort of like sweeping the floor regularly rather than letting the dust accumulate for ages.

They tell us we need 30 g of fiber per day but I am positive than 60 g or more is better. After that is satisfied, people can juice all they want and they will still get lots of fiber benefits.

That may be true for the average Cooked
Food eater. Fiber puts a 'pressure' in the Colon that
leads to Health Problems. IMHO.
I find that I feel better when my Colon is 'empty'.
Juicing has served me very well when I stick to it.

Your HO is wrong. You put more pressure on your colon without it.

LOL. I've been wrong before. I just know that
when I'm eating a high-fiber Diet, my back hurts. When I'm
on a low-fiber Liquid Diet, my back doesn't hurt. That's all
the proof I need. A Colon that is constantly full of fiber
puts a 'pressure' on the Body. You may not notice it since
you don't have back problems the way I do........WY

I have been blending rather than juicing lately.
I was not liking the idea of all the left over pulp which I was just throwing away.
Plus I do like the idea of getting all the fiber.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback, everyone! The thing is, I don't have a juicer, and I'm not sure if I want to spend the money to get one if blending works fine. I do have a hand citrus juicer, which I use often. I feel, however, that sometimes juice is better than smoothie, and sometimes that's what I crave. Do you think that straining smoothie through a nut milk bag would make it like juice?

Straining a smoothie through a nut milk bag accomplishes the same thing as using a juicer.

Not much fiber in babies milk which they can thrive on only - for up to 5 years.

Babies are juicitarians

Has anyone tried these blender he talks about in this video?

It appears the largest blades blend the best. Has anyone had any experience with any blenders with the larger blade?

I found out that the blender is a 20 amp blender that won't fit my kitchen since I don't have a 20 amp outlet. That link took me to rawswammy's site. There are a lot of interesting videos on rawswammy.com.

blake1970.....Thanks for the Links. I'm always searching for the best blender for my situation. I tried the Blendtec SpaceSaver15 and was disappointed with the Power compared to my Vita-Prep 3.

I was going to buy the blendtec 20 from rawswammy.com but I couln't get a price from the person I talked to. He was too interested in asking me questions about my eating habbits and foods I have been addicted to. I could barely understand him. I saw on everything kitchens that they have this blender with an adapter. Does anyone know the price of the 20 amp blender on the rawswammy.com website.
I can fit it in my kitchen plug with their adapter but I cannot pay their price.

And just what was their price? You may have
spoken to the BlindGuru himself. You have to be careful
just using an adapter for the 20 Amp blender. If your circuit
is only 15 Amps, it will 'trip' the Breaker. It's probably best
to stay away from it. Blendtec has 'upgraded' their base model
to make it more user friendly. Harvest Essentials has it for
$379.95 with the $20 discount.....WY

Most have lost the ability to digest raw food especially greens, that makes juicing import.

For me too!! The Best eating schudule I've ever
tried was juice (wheatgrass and carrot) in the morning and
a Green Smoothie in the early afternoon....with a Dry Fast
in between. The 'key' is not to listen to other people, and
just let your weight find its own Level......WY

There is a video on the juicing page on rawswammy.com

[sitekreator.com]
that is the link to decide if juicing or blending is better.

Not at all.

For instance they say: ""It's a shame people think that juice diet from a juicer will actually cure them when actually all they are doing is taking out the nutrition and throwing it in the garbage."

Then how do they explain all the stories out there of people who have cured diseases..even some cancers by doing juice fasts along with other stuff? Or people like Ann Wigmore who used wheatgrass juice for everything? Or all the retreats that are helping people by putting them on juices?

Taking out what nutrition? What studies have they done? There are plenty of people who have actually done tests on juices and researched them..the nutrients are there. Even the dead juices in stores still have some nutrients in them. Not saying those are good but there's still some vitamin C at least. And people whose digestive systems aren't that great for whatever reason can easily absorb the nutrients in the juice more than whole food or blended food where the fiber is slowing down the absorption of nutrients. Give a sick person who can't digest anything and wants nothing to do with food a big glass of blended slop and they'll throw it up..since it has to sit in the stomach and "digest". Give them a glass of juice and it'll go through them and where it's needed.

I'm all for juicing AND blending. I love my carrot+apple+beet juice and bananna, goji, berry smoothies.

I do both. I find that juicing is a lot like an injection, which gives instant nutrition right into the bloodstream. However, the blending gives me the entire leaf and all of those benefits. i do feel the effects of juicing over the blending much quicker!

According to the rawswammy.com the people that drink juice stop eating as much of the junk foods. Its not that juicing is the best it might be that it's just better than the foods they were eating. I also learned that the phytochemicals are in the cellular fiber of the pulp that most people don't get when they throw the pulp out. This is the page I did my research on. [sitekreator.com]

I love green smoothies, and I love green veggie juice (sweetened with apples). I try to include one of each every day.
