hi ya'll,

just wondering if and when the hunger pains leave whilst doing a juice fast. i'm pretty early in the game (Day #2), but i've been super hungry the last 48 hours. i'm planning on a 10 day juice fast...i hope i'm not hungry the entire time!

experiences???

love,
m.

If you Juice Feast instead of Juice Fasting, you won't have Hunger Pangs. Plus, the benefits are almost as good.....WY

hunger will drop off after 3 days ususally and you will be fine. the discomfort is minimal. do not watch tv because of all the food ads. juice feasting is an oxymoron ...wheatgrass yogi is not always correct in his opinion. personally, a juice fast is something like an austere experience which allows you to heal. it is not a feasting celebration to brag about how many days you feasted for and how much juice you feasted on. juice fasting is a brief period of stepping out of everyday routine and allowing your body a chance to make things better.

enjoy your fast

Thanks for the reminder JJ. I'm getting
geared-up to do a 7-day Wheatgrass Juice Fast. I'll
miss my daily Green Smoothie, but this is something
I need to do.
How are you doing these days?.....WY

Wow WY - a wheatgrass fast? Not sure I will get there, but stranger things have happened. I never thought I would get where I currently am with my diet. I can't wait to hear about your experience with it!

Thanks for your encouragement. I'm planting
Wheatgrass now so I can start in a few days. I've never
heard of anyone taking just Wheatgrass Juice and Water
for 7 days, but I'm sure I won't be breaking New Ground.....WY

What's the difference? I thought juice feasting was just a cute name for juice fasting. lol

The way I understand it is Juice Feasting allows
unlimited Juice (within reason) and Juice Fasting restricts
the juice to a point of slight hunger. We can modify each to
serve our individual needs. The main idea is to DO SOMETHING!!....WY

Juice feasting sounds more my style. smiling smiley In my definition, what you call feasting would still be fasting to me since I wouldn't be eating solid food.

i drink juice whenever i feel the urge...usually a big 32oz Mason Jar full at a time...probably 5-6 of those throughout the day.

i've been drinking straight up orange juice, carrot/orange juice, green juices (celery, kale, apple, lemon, ginger), spicy juice--my favorite--(tomato, carrot, bell pepper, basil or cilantro or dill, garlic, red onion, romaine, celery), watermelon juice, beet/carrot/apple/ginger...that's about it.

i'm getting pretty juiced out at this point. i can't believe people juice feast for 3 months! i'm hungry and unsatisfied all the time. every one talks about how pleasant juice fasting is...but, not for me (at least so far). i'm not trying to be negative...i'm just keepin' it real.

love,
m.

i did a 21 day juice (feast? fast?) recently, and i was going gangbusters until i hit the wall at about day 12... from there it was a total struggle. but i was only consuming 2-3 32oz jars a day, i wasn't limiting myself either. the global juice feast website says up to 4 32oz servings/day, but i was too lazy or too full of juice to drink that much.

the good news is that with the juicing (and plenty of exercise) i lost 10 pounds. i'm now only 10 pounds away from my goal weight!

1 gallon a day was the amount set for the feasting programme

I found it too much, I couldnt drink that much so I concluded mine at 45 days.

I find smoothie feasting so much easier..infact..not really needing a name..just the way I eat all the time!

I'm the exact same way. I almost decided to ONLY drink smoothies all day every day as my way of life. I really enjoy making various smoothies throughout the day because of the simplicity to it. I have no more than my morning and afternoon. This is all I eat during the day as I have my main meal at night which is a balance of everything(different textures, flavors, aromas, colors, tastes, shapes, etc.). I eat according to the Warrior Diet Lifestyle and so during the day I “Undereat”(this is when I do the smoothies) to turn on the Sympathetic Nervous System(SNS) and “Overeat” at night to turn on the Parasympathetic Nervous System(PSNS). I have experienced phenomenal results over the past 4 or 5 months since I have switched to this lifestyle.

Well the first 2.5 weeks I began it I lost 10lbs. It has been almost 4 months since I began it and I have to make my absolute most conscious effort to keep the weight on me now. smiling smiley I have never been an overweight or unhealthy person by medical and fitness standards, but always seek out the best lifestyle to live. I feel much, much more lighter and overall healthier. I dropped my bodyfat from around 16% to 9ish% and definitely feel stronger.
I recommended this lifestyle to my mother and she lost 3lbs. before the first week was even up. Detoxing the crap out is a huge thing!

Eat only fruits and vegetables during the day and then have a balance of everything at night since humans are naturally nocturnal eaters from thousands and thousands of years of our hunter and gather days.

Hard Work Always Equals Results.

I am thinking about doing a juice feast. After reading this thread I got the idea of doing a juice/smoothie combo. I want to do it for cleansing reasons. I am concerned about hunger and will power. Do you guys think the smoothies will help with hunger and do you think adding smoothies will make it less cleansing?

I vote for Smoothies over Juice. One (or two)
a day, with Water in-between, can be very cleansing
without the Hunger of a Juice Feast. Plus, it's much easier
to Blend rather than Juice, if you consider Preparation and
Clean-up time. Also, the nature of the work (blending) is more
enjoyable......WY

Blending is a lifestyle choice..hehe..

I could never stomach blended food when I first went raw..so I am loving the simplicy of just blended foods..delicious!!

WY-thanks for the reply.

I prefer smoothies for all the reasons you mentioned. I might do a mostly blended, with some juice feast.

I had just the opposite experience of WY (no offense intended, WY-- I know we're all just wired differently): I never get hungery on a juice fast, but on my recent juice feast I became really ravenous. I figured it was because I was adding all the supplements and not really fasting.

So, can you tell me again WY what you do for morning juice? Carrot juice? Celery juice and wheatgrass juice? I can't remember. I thought it was something like that - but what do you end up blending? Maybe I should start getting back to the Victoria Butenko recipes. I haven't been into blending much - once I got hooked on spinach and bananas, I stopped blending all the other good stuff. Would love other ideas as well.

lol I'm on my 4th week of a FAST and still have hunger pains. I think in my case it's because I'm not straining my juices good enough. I can't find a good strainer to get the foam out.
