Using silicone sheets in the sun
Posted by: uriyurman ()

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if silicone sheets warm up if placed in the sunlight. I'm talking about the ones normally used for baking, like these: [tinyurl.com]

I think about buying one sheet for sun-dehydrating of foods.

Thanks,
Uri,
Tel Aviv

when we lived in Santa Fe, NM, we just used a well-washed old screen door spread across two saw-horses. apricots would fall all over (i knocked and asked before fighting off the birds and squirrels for his apricots), and they dried amazingly. grapes would get a little odd and took a long time. apples dried when sliced very very thin- think veggie peeler. bananas always got weird.

i liked the screen b/c both sides dried rapidly. i've heard that putting metal pans UNDER the screens to reflect would have been better.

peace-
