pakd4fun -

Are many of the cracker recipes (from that $10 book you recommended) made from grains? I've attempted several cracker recipes that called for soaked and sprouted grains that I had to push through the Champion Juicer. This process was labor intensive and miserably messy with all that sticky gluten, and for all my efforts, the crackers ended up tasting like garbage.

I'd love investing in a cracker recipe book, but am leery about having to deal with grains.

thanks,
Smile

The only crackers I've made are from flax seed. THe base is equal parts flax seed soaked overnight in equal parts water. Then you mix them in the food processor with whatever other flavors you want...onion, garlic, etc. You spread the mix on the teflex sheet and dehydrate. Pretty easy. The spreading part is the hardest part.

A few recipes call for steel cut oat groats soaked over night (I think three out of 13). I think every recipe calls for either ground flax seeds or soaked whole flax seeds. most call for vegetables and seeds and seasoning. The only tools you'll need are dehydrator, blender, food processor and a coffee grinder. I am very pleased with this book.
