Sea spaghetti

Has anyone else tried sea spaghetti?

I'm currently tucking into a bowl consisting of... rocket, fresh tomato, mushrooms, one garlic clove, quarter of a red chilli - zapped in the food processor then mixed with soaked sea spaghetti. It's lovely! :-)

It's sea weed - you buy it dry, soak before use (for about 10 - 15 mins) then use it however you want to :-)

Allie, I went and took a look at your website, and all your animals..wow..that's so neat you take in and love so many. Your personal story is sad, but in overcoming so much, you are very inspirational for others. Just wanted to say that your site left an impression on me.

As for sea spaghetti I haven't seen it or heard of it. What does it look like?

Love,
Prism

Thank you Prism :-)

Sea spaghetti is sea weed - it's the stringy looking stuff, not sure how else to describe it to be honest! lol

If you have a look here you'll find more info. I only bought a small amount to start with, but will be getting more :-)

This sounds tasty, and even better then kombu noodles which are also made of sea weed only they are cooked. My health food store doesn't carry them though unfortunatly. Does anyone know of a place in New york city that sells these? Thanks smiling smiley

Alliecatt what else would one use a food processor for besides making sauces? Could it be used to make soups and smoothies if you don't have a blender?

My food processor doubles up as my blender as well as being used for all sorts of other things, sauces, soups, smoothies, slicing veg, grating.

Here's more info about rocket for you - [seeds.thompson-morgan.com] :-)

hey alliecat

i love seaweed
sometimes i go to the asian stores
pick up some seaweed
soak em
then tear them up ( i do it with my hands.. they tear easily so i don't have to use a scissor or anything)
and eat it like that
its a good food to eat while watching movies ( LOL)
i mindlessly chew on seaweed
while watching a good flick
better than popcorn

Wow, first I read about kelp noodles and now this. I can't wait to try!

(I read that "Sea Tangle" is one of the few, if not the only, seller(s) of truly RAW kelp noodles.)

I think they have to be soaked for at least 30 minutes or so before they get really soft, and apparently the outside skin of the kelp has been removed so that they are more like a clear cellophane noodle!
