smoothies involving coconut water?

any suggestions?

i already drink a green smoothie everyday and even though the coconut water tastes amazing in that, i want to create a separate smoothie with the coconut water.

Hey there!

How about a pineapple and coconut milk smoothie? You can make the coconut milk from scratch, in a simlar fashion to nut milk. Check this recipe out: [rawfoodhealthwatch.com]

And if you're tired of smoothies, why don't you try making coconut kefir? I personally prefer this version to water kefir, it is so much more flavorful: [rawfoodhealthwatch.com].

Vegmichelle: Is it possible to produce coconut water kefir that does NOT contain alcohol? I have seen a video by Natasha St. Michael and I believe she said you only have to let it sit for 24 hours. So I am wondering if that would allow fermentation without even .05 alcohol. I don't want to consume anything. 3% is pretty high; it's the same as a beer!

For the amount consumed of kefir it likely wouldn't contain anywhere near as much as 3% alcohol. The longer you let kefir and fermented foods ferment the more sugar is used up, this is something you want but you obviously don't want to ferment the kefir too long.

I never measure anything, so sorry for the vagueness. This is incredible when I'm jonesing for Indian food.

In a blender, add:
frozen mango
splash of aloe juice
enough coconut water just to cover the mango (more or less, it you like it thicker or thinner)
big handful of cilantro
small chunk (1/2 inch, maybe?) fresh ginger
curry powder to taste (1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon, more or less)

Try a frozen smoothie with coconut water, young thai coconut meat, frozen pomegranate seeds and a little ice. Pink refreshment. My wife loves them.

I use coconut water (instead of ordinary water) in any of my smoothies, green and fruit. It's very subtle so you never even feel it's there. I don't use it all the time (too expensive) but from time to time, or when I feel I need some extra boost after training etc.

I have tried to make smoothies with coconut water and I even tried a chia pudding with coco water. Verdict? It always tasted a bit "off" and I think the reason is that it is fairly salty (from the organic sodium, no doubt). I am not crazy about the flavor but I do enjoy it alone.
