Nori

Date: August 03, 2011 02:44PM I've been vegetarian/vegan for over 25 years, but lately experimenting with raw foods. So far, so good, except for nori rolls. I made some lovely ones yesterday, but I couldn't bite through the nori! I ended up eating only the filling that squished out. Is there a secret? (I have to admit I didn't much like the very fishy taste, but I have 50 of them so I'd like to find a way of using them!) Re: Nori

Date: August 03, 2011 07:21PM Hi. The way I learned it is to lay it out briefly on a damp papertowel before rolling up. It makes a big difference. I forget where I read it. I've seen some recipes in books to use them as wrappers for like veggies and raw pate or something. I haven't tried it but that sounds like it might be good. I think it was Ani's Rawfood Kitchen. Anyway good luck and did you use wasabi with it? Re: Nori

Date: August 03, 2011 07:31PM Thanks, Alice. I'll try the damp paper towel method. Hope that softens it up enough that I can bite through them! No, no wasabi. I had a raw 'spread' I'd made, plus carrots, avocado, sprouts ++ the filling tasted great! Re: Nori

Date: October 12, 2011 06:01PM I have not tried many nori recipes, but I did try one I found on YouTube. Liferegenerator's Thai wrap with walnut dipping sauce. Delicious! Re: Nori

Date: October 12, 2011 06:24PM The way to eat nori rolls is to cut them up into bite sized rounds, that way each piece is no more than a mouthful. Either that or you've got to savage them with each bite! Re: Nori
