Traditional coleslaw?

I love coleslaw. Its pretty much raw, other than the dressing which makes it coleslaw in the first place lol or else it would just be shredded cabbage. Bleh. Is there a raw recipe for traditional coleslaw that even tastes anything like the normal kind?

I mixed some avocado into my kraut (cabbages, carrots, onions) the other day and it tasted like coleslaw. Actually, I think I'll do that right now, very yummy.

My family always made their coleslaw with canned pineapple ---

So how about just mixing the shredded carrots and cabbage with tiny pieces of FRESH, RIPE - Juicey Pineapple -- or if you want blend a bit of the pineapple and pour over the top as a dressing?

If it's a day you don't mind adding fat add 1/2 an avacado to the pineapple in the blender (?)

Let me know how you make out.

I've found that some ginger shredded into a coleslaw like the above is a wonderful addition.

I made cabbage yesterday that came out good. I really worked the cabbage with my hands after I shredded it. I then added leeks, olive oil and italian seasoning. The whole family ate it up, even all three kids. I used to make it pre-raw by steaming it with butter then mixing it up and adding kidney beans. Yesterday we had yummy raw black-eyed peas with it for our luck smiling smiley.

Here's my coleslaw dressing:
1/4 cup cashews
1/8 cup olive oil
1/8 cup honey
juice of one lemon
Process this in the blender or processor and pour over cut up cabbage.

It is also a good waldorf salad recipe. Pour over cut up apples and bananas.
