little help...

Hello,
I'm trying too figure out the best way to start eating healthy. I can't afford getting a book to learn right now. (I didn't return my books when I was a kid)
I have been thinking I could just grab a ton of raw food but I don't want to harm myself by not eating what's important for ones body. I sure haven't been eating right anyways but I sure want to start trying. Can anyone help set me up with some knowledge on how to find a good balance in what to eat? I don't want to cut off the little nutriance I have been getting. I never got to attend health class so I'll don't know about carbs and proteins stuff like that.
I think lots of advice could be useful if anyone cares to share.
Your pal and new to the sit,
Steven

This is by no means gospel but might be a good place to start:

Greens for protein, minerals, vitamins, and EFAs:
1-2 heads of lettuce
1-2 handfuls of spinach
1-2 servings of broccoli, cauliflower, kale, etc.

more EFAs:
3-4 walnuts
1 avocado

The rest of your calories can come from sweet and nonsweet fruits of all kinds.

You will also need a source of B12 (nutritional yeast, fortified food, or supplement) and D (most people use sunshine).

You can combine these to make salads, juices, smoothies, etc. or just eat them plain.

You should also try to incorporate a wide variety of foods.

You can check to see that you meet all your nutrient requirements at . It's free.

Also you will get more responses on the main board.

Sorry, the website somehow disappeared. It is [cronometer.com] for calculating your macro- and micronutrient intakes to see if you meet all your nutrient requirements.
