Sunflower seeds for Cashews

I have read about people substituting sunflower seeds for cashew nuts. This idea is appealing to me since sunflower seeds are a lot less expensive, and I have been hearing that many nuts are not truly raw. My question is are the recipe measurements adjusted for sunflower seeds. IF a recipe calls for 1 cup of cashew nuts do you use one cup of sunflower seeds or do you use less because they are smaller. If anyone has made this substitution I would appreciate your feedback.

I've tried substituting sunflowers for cashews, and I wasn't happy with it for certain dishes, for example, when you want a creamy dairy taste, because sunflowers are more bitter than cashews. For some some applications, like making raw burgers, sunflower seeds work really well.
