Funny Mistakes

I'm a little over one week into RAW, and really I'm only about 80% RAW, at this point, I still enjoy light cooked veggie meals with salads when I go out to eat. I'm inching my way into RAW after being a Lacto-OVO Vegetarian for 10 years. I've been reading all about raw spaghetti with squash pasta and decided to make some only I didn't follow a recipe. I went to the store and bought green onions, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, garlic, and fresh oregeno and I blended it all together and poured it on some squash. YUCK! I thought I was gonna be sick. With all those yummy ingredients I thought there is no way I could go wrong. BUT I DID! Has anyone else ever made a completely awful RAW dish?

Raw hummus with sprouted chickpeas, absolutely disgusting. The only think I've eaten/tasted/spat-out was a rather expensive rotting raw vegan coconut cookie thingy (ok, I feel ill thinking about that incident.....). sad smiley

Normally I can do a pretty good job of saving a dish if it's coming out wrong, but not the hummass. When using garlic and spices, I add small amounts at a time until I get the flavor I want (always start by adding far less than you think you want). Also with garlic, if the dish sits over night the garlic flavor will be stronger.

I once had a "let's make raw food" type date. I forgot to ask the other person how hot they liked there food.... oops, the Thai coconut curry soup wsa just right for me, but tooo hot for my friend.

Good luck,
Ian.

I had a hard time judging spices, esp. garlic and onion, at first. You get adjusted pretty quickly.

yes. I made a really "delicious" fermented banana bread loaf once while learning how to dehydrate things, but it sure looked good.....

Ha Ha I still make mistakes even after 5 years!

I made flax crackers too thick that were so hard to digest!

I've also made really weird green soups but I always fix them by adding curry powder. It works everytimesmiling smiley
