lentil soup - raw food staples

As a cooked-foods vegan, my staple dish is/was red lentil and vegetable soup.

I would cook my lentils and tomato paste on low temperature with my spices and add the veggies at the last 5 minutes to keep the crunchiness and retain as much nutrients as par-cooked vegetables can.

I am beginning my journey into raw foods and so far, I've only come up with one staple dish.

My current staple dish is something I call raw burritos.
(Almond Pate: leftover almond pulp from almond milk, crushed garlic, chopped chives, nutritional yeast, cumin, cayenne, turmeric, sea salt. wrapped in collard green leaves with green pepper, daikon, carrots, asparagus, tomato, radish sprouts, quinoa sprouts, red onion)

I'm trying to find out if anyone has experimented with sprouted lentils as a soup. I'm assuming this could be done by blending sprouted lentils and soaked sun-dried tomatoes (or fresh ones) with some water or other watery vegetables (green peppers or celery). I know other watery vegetables could include cucumbers, but I'm not too fond of them (I am considering eating only raw, vegan based on the ayurvedic guidelines for a kapha constitution, cucumber is not one in that list.) Then stir in spices (probably cumin, turmeric, cayenne) and chopped vegetables.

Has anyone tried something similar? I don't know how the mix would work in a blender. I know some blenders are more powerful than others.

Any suggestions? Or does my idea seem feasible?
Thanks!

hi iradastar

that is a mighty beautiful creative ayurvedic raw burrito you concocted there

i used to make something similar before i went all raw

but it had garbanzo beans in it

the lentil recipe that you conjured doesn't seem so far out at all

it seems quite feasible

after you sprout the lentils, try putting it along with all the other ingredients in a food processor (or blender)

and wrap in cabbage or collard greens

anyhow.... that is a pretty cool FIRST recipe... whoo hooo!

hope u stick around and enjoy the vibrant bounty

Thanks so much!

I don't really do recipes, I just look at pictures and figure things out.
Whatever I have on hand or whatever looks pretty at the market, I grab it and put it together. :-)
I'm definitely going to make some kind of lentil soup soon. Now, I'm just sprouting garbanzos.
Living plant food is exciting! Way more exciting than cooked food! :-)

Hi, I love to make a soup using the following and find it balancing for me (vata/kapha). You could eat a little raw bread with your soup for balancing kapha more.

2 tomatoes
1/2 bell pepper
1/2 cup sweetcorn
1/2 zucchini
1/8 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp coriander
sea salt to taste
1 tsp ACV (cider vinegar)

Blend with warm water, you get a lovely golden coloured soup.

I think it turned out pretty well. It's like a mix between a red vegetable smoothie and hummus. I added some chopped veggies and grass sprouts for extra textures.
